UAE Policeman Charged with Violating Leo Messi's Privacy over Passport Video
Joe GallagherJan 19, 2016
A Dubai, United Arab Emirates, police officer has appeared in court over a video of Lionel Messi's passport he allegedly posted to Snapchat.
Abu Dhabi's state-run newspaper, the National (h/t Associated Press, via ESPN FC), reported that the video contained the caption: "Shall I burn the passport or just put it back!"
The officer claims he had the permission of Messi's bodyguard and that the video was a joke.
The incident occurred in December, when Messi arrived in the UAE for the Globe Soccer Awards, where he won Player of the Year.
