DeAndre Jordan Misses Game for 1st Time Since 2010-11

Bleacher Report MilestonesJan 14, 2016

Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan missed Wednesday's game against the Miami Heat due to an illness, ending his streak of consecutive regular-season games played at 360, per ESPN Stats & Info.

With Jordan sitting out for the first time since the 2010-11 season, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson now owns the league's longest active streak for games played, as Thursday's contest against the San Antonio Spurs will represent his 325th consecutive appearance.

Making Jordan's run all the more impressive is the fact that he checks in as one of the league's largest players, officially listed at 6'11" and 265 pounds.

Players of Jordan's stature tend to be more injury-prone than smaller guards and wings, with lower-body issues especially prevalent because of the natural pounding that comes with supporting so much weight.

It still remains to be seen how the 27-year-old will hold up over the long haul, but there's no question that durability has been one of his greatest assets through the first eight years of his career.

Of course, Jordan also provides efficient production on a per-game basis, currently averaging a double-double with 2.2 or more blocks for a third consecutive season.

To be fair, it wasn't until the past three seasons that he handled a workload of 30-plus minutes per game, as his lack of a jump shot and poor free-throw shooting often served to limit his playing time through the first five campaigns of his career.

While both of those areas remain glaring weaknesses, Jordan more than makes up for them with his rare combination of rebounding, shot-blocking and durability.
