But Liverpool just couldn't maintain their foothold in the match, with Olivier Giroud glancing home a corner moments later to level the scores again...
And the Frenchman ought to have given the Gunners an unlikely first-half lead but somehow conspired to miss from six yards out with the goal at his mercy...
The internet wasn't kind to Liverpool's defenders...
And while Firmino came within an inch of a first-half hat-trick, the sides went into half-time level...
An entertaining game only got better in the second half when Giroud turned and finished brilliantly after 55 minutes to put the visitors in front...
