Twitter Reacts as Liverpool Score Late to Draw 3-3 vs. Arsenal in Premier League

League-leading Arsenal looked to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League ladder on Wednesday night, travelling north to face Liverpool at Anfield.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp caused the first major stir of the night when he benched Christian Benteke, despite him being one of Liverpool's only fit strikers...

He was joined by new loan signing Steven Caulker, who himself has caused a great deal of chatter since joining the club on Tuesday...

The home side started brightly and had two penalty appeals waved away in the opening 10 minutes, while Emre Can was earning himself some praise...

But their early dominance was rewarded when Petr Cech parried Jordon Ibe's shot toward Roberto Firmino...

Arsenal responded immediately with their first shot of the game from Aaron Ramsey...

But Firmino restored Liverpool's advantage after 19 minutes with a brilliant goal from outside the area...

But Liverpool just couldn't maintain their foothold in the match, with Olivier Giroud glancing home a corner moments later to level the scores again...

And the Frenchman ought to have given the Gunners an unlikely first-half lead but somehow conspired to miss from six yards out with the goal at his mercy...

The internet wasn't kind to Liverpool's defenders...

And while Firmino came within an inch of a first-half hat-trick, the sides went into half-time level...

An entertaining game only got better in the second half when Giroud turned and finished brilliantly after 55 minutes to put the visitors in front...

What made it more surprising for Arsenal was that Mesut Ozil had yet to play a key part in the fixture...

Liverpool needed a hero...

And while it wasn't to be Caulker, substitute Joe Allen popped up in the 90th minute to fire home Benteke's header and ensure a second 3-3 thriller of the week...

The point keeps Arsenal top of the table on goal difference, while Liverpool draw level with eighth-placed Crystal Palace on 31 points, trailing the Eagles on goal difference.

The Gunners face Stoke this weekend, and next up for Klopp's side are Manchester United on Sunday.
