In the same league that this incident was deemed a yellow-card offence just 24 hours earlier, A-League referee Ben Williams missed a stonewall penalty in Adelaide United's trip to face Western Sydney Wanderers on New Year's Day.
The Reds' Michael Marrone was tripped by Wanderers defender Nikolai Topor-Stanley in the first half, but Williams waved play on.
The attacker might have exaggerated the contact but no more than the commentator who described the challenge as one that "catapulted [Marrone] into the stratosphere."
