Quarterbacks
3 of 9
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Although Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton's fantasy totals were not anything to brag about against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they faced off earlier this season, Newton will rebound in a huge way.
Besides the dud he put up in Week 16, Newton was on fire before that.
While the Buccaneers rank near the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, they have surrendered a total of 29 passing touchdowns on the year.
Projections: 275 passing yards, 2 TDs; 45 rushing yards, 1 TD
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
After putting up a fantasy dud in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will bounce back in a big way against a Cleveland Browns defense that has allowed the fourth-most passing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks this season.
Look for Roethlisberger to decimate this defense with his wide receivers Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant.
Projections: 350 passing yards, 3 TDs
Tom Brady, New England Patriots
Although he has been without many of his main options this season, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has found another reliable passing option in running back James White.
Don't forget Brady will have tight end Rob Gronkowski to throw to, too.
Brady put up over 350 yards and four touchdowns in his last showdown with the Buffalo Bills.
Brady is my No. 3 quarterback this week.
Projections: 310 passing yards, 3 TDs
Eli Manning, New York Giants
In Week 16, Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins absolutely decimated the Philadelphia Eagles defense.
With wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. back in the fold, Manning should have no problem putting up great fantasy numbers.
Projections: 275 passing yards, 2 TDs
Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals
In his last outing against the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was on the road and put up three touchdowns on this defense.
He knows them well, and the Cardinals are just rolling and clicking in every facet.
Projections: 270 passing yards, 2 TDs
Ryan Fitzpatrick, New York Jets
With wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker at his disposal, New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will look to put a beating on the Buffalo Bills to get to the playoffs.
The Bills have given up 28 touchdowns on the year to opposing quarterbacks, and Fitzpatrick and company will look to add a few more to that total.
Projections: 265 passing yards, 2 TDs
Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Torn plantar fascia? No problem!
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees should be able to build off his Week 16 performance and improve from his prior outing against the Atlanta Falcons.
Projections: 255 passing yards, 2 TDs
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Jeez.
It's impossible to remember the last time I ranked Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as my No. 8 quarterback for a week.
However, let's be honest: The wide receivers and offensive line for the Packers have been struggling.
This week, Rodgers will do battle with the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC North crown.
This could be a tough one for Rodgers.
Projections: 245 passing yards, 2 TDs
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
We all know that Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford likes to sling it.
But what we all may not know is that Stafford has thrown two or more touchdowns passes in five straight games.
He'll take on a Chicago Bears defense that gives up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.
Projections: 280 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles leads the league in completions of 20 or more yards.
In Week 17, he may be tasked to throw an ample amount against a resurgent Houston Texans defense that needs to win this game.
Although on paper this is a tough matchup, Bortles has plenty of options to go to. As long as he keeps flinging it deep, he's bound to strike something.
Projections: 300 passing yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs
Running Backs
4 of 9
Devonta Freeman, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman's volume has no limits.
Also, three words: New Orleans Saints.
Projections: 100 rushing yards, 2 TDs; 5 receptions, 50 receiving yards, 1 TD
DeAngelo Williams, Pittsburgh Steelers
Just like his quarterback, Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams should have some fun with a Cleveland Browns team that allows the most rushing yards per game to opposing running backs.
Projections: 120 rushing yards, 1 TD; 5 receptions, 35 receiving yards
Todd Gurley, St. Louis Rams
After managing to salvage his fantasy day in Week 16 with a touchdown, St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley will get a much juicier matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
Look for Gurley to return to his same old dominant form.
Projections: 110 rushing yards, 1 TD; 3 receptions, 35 receiving yards
James White, New England Patriots
He may not carry the ball a ton, but in points-per-reception leagues, New England Patriots running back James White catches the ball a ton.
This week, the Patriots close out their regular season with the Miami Dolphins, who allow the most fantasy points to opposing running backs.
White should be in for quite the day.
Projections: 30 rushing yards; 8 receptions, 65 receiving yards, 1 TD
Bilal Powell, New York Jets
Over the past month of the season, New York Jets running back Bilal Powell has been the RB3 in points-per-reception leagues.
He should continue to produce to close out the season.
Projections: 30 rushing yards; 6 receptions, 60 receiving yards, 1 TD
Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Volume is not an issue for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, as he ranks first in the league in carries and is the only back over 300 carries.
In a battle for the NFC North crown against the Green Bay Packers, Peterson will get his fair share of the workload again.
In their last meeting, Peterson had a touchdown, but the rushing totals weren't so hot.
The Vikings will look to keep the ball out of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' hands, and they should rely on Peterson as they do every week.
Projections: 95 rushing yards, 1 TD; 2 receptions, 20 receiving yards
Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
In Week 17, the Chicago Bears and running back Matt Forte will face off against the Detroit Lions.
The Lions are one of just two teams that have not allowed a receiving touchdown to opposing running backs.
However, they have allowed 14 rushing touchdowns on the season to opposing running backs.
Looks like Forte will need to do it on the ground.
Projections: 50 rushing yards; 5 receptions, 50 receiving yards
David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson has single-handedly made fantasy owners' championship dreams come true, elevating himself to the RB1 over the past month in points-per-reception leagues.
To close out the season, Johnson draws the Seattle Seahawks, who will give him more of a fight.
He should slow down a little bit in Week 17.
Projections: 55 rushing yards; 4 receptions, 45 receiving yards
Tim Hightower, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Tim Hightower put on a clinic in the team's Week 16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This week, Hightower will be tasked with another full workload against an Atlanta Falcons defense that has allowed 15 rushing touchdowns this season.
Projections: 70 rushing yards, 1 TD
Danny Woodhead, San Diego Chargers
With San Diego Chargers rookie running back Melvin Gordon gone for the season, Woodhead will keep getting more carries and catching a ton of passes.
That won't stop this week.
Projections: 30 rushing yards; 5 receptions, 50 receiving yards
Charcandrick West, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs running back Charcandrick West has had a rough go of it lately.
With fellow running back Spencer Ware back in the mix, West's carries will dwindle slightly.
Hope for a West touchdown.
Projections: 65 rushing yards; 3 receptions, 30 receiving yards
Frank Gore, Indianapolis Colts
With the quarterback position in flux in Week 17, the Indianapolis Colts will likely look to Frank Gore to take plenty of the burden off of whoever the quarterback is to close out the season in a must-win game.
Projections: 60 rushing yards, 1 TD
Darren McFadden, Dallas Cowboys
In Week 16, Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden was just one yard shy of 100 rushing yards.
With the Cowboys placing wide receiver Dez Bryant on injured reserve, McFadden will once again be relied upon in Week 17.
Projections: 65 rushing yards; 3 receptions, 25 receiving yards
Latavius Murray, Oakland Raiders
Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray is one of just four running backs heading into Week 17 with 1,000 or more rushing yards.
Murray's opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs, allow the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs.
However, due to Murray's workload, coupled with his receiving ability, he makes for an intriguing play this week, regardless of matchup.
Projections: 55 rushing yards; 3 receptions, 30 receiving yards
Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The league's second leading rusher will be tasked with a Carolina Panthers defense that he has already slaughtered once this season.
Don't expect a repeat, but expect Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin to just keep on getting tons of volume.
Projections: 80 rushing yards
Wide Receivers
5 of 9
Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers
There's really no need for deliberation here.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is 100 percent matchup-proof.
Projections: 12 receptions, 120 receiving yards, 2 TDs
Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones leads the league in receptions and receiving yards.
He gets the New Orleans Saints this week.
Buckle up and have fun.
Projections: 10 receptions, 115 receiving yards, 1 TD
Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants
After being suspended in Week 16, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will look to come with a vengeance in a game that means nothing against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.
OBJ is going to flat-out embarrass the Eagles secondary.
Projections: 9 receptions, 100 receiving yards, 1 TD
Brandon Marshall, New York Jets
New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall is the first player in NFL history to record six seasons of 100 catches or more.
This week, he goes up against a Buffalo Bills defense that ranks toward the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers.
However, Marshall is in the elite class this season, and matchups should not deter you in a game that the Jets need to win.
Projections: 8 receptions, 90 receiving yards, 1 TD
DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans
The Houston Texans will take on a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that was actually worse than the New Orleans Saints last week.
If quarterback Brian Hoyer is back in the mix, Hopkins has a chance to finish in the top three of the wide receiver position this week.
Projections: 7 receptions, 75 receiving yards, 1 TD
Allen Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson is definitely quarterback Blake Bortles' favorite target.
As mentioned in the quarterbacks slide, Bortles likes to fling the ball deep.
Who do you think is catching those long balls?
Projections: 6 receptions, 70 receiving yards, 1 TD
Brandin Cooks, New Orleans Saints
Over the past two weeks, there are only two other receivers who have more fantasy points in points-per-reception formats than Brandin Cooks.
Those receivers were the No. 1 and No. 2 receivers on this list.
Cooks should keep it going in Week 17.
Projections: 5 receptions, 60 receiving yards, 1 TD
Eric Decker, New York Jets
If you have not caught on by now, New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker just catches touchdowns.
In fact, Decker has a touchdown in every game except three this season.
Why not get another one this week?
Projections: 5 receptions, 50 receiving yards, 1 TD
A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green has been a bit frustrating at times this season.
However, he draws the Baltimore Ravens this weekend who, before Week 16, could not stop a nose bleed.
If quarterback AJ McCarron is good to go, Green should be just fine.
Projections: 5 receptions, 50 receiving yards, 1 TD
Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
After two straight weeks of one-catch performances, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson redeemed himself with a touchdown in Week 16.
This week, Johnson will be matched up with a Chicago Bears defense that he obliterated earlier this year for six catches, 166 yards and a score.
Projections: 4 receptions, 40 receiving yards, 1 TD
Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos
While this has felt like a down year for Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, he still has 100 receptions, though his touchdown total is only at five.
One of his five touchdowns came against the same opponent he'll take on in Week 17—the San Diego Chargers.
Projections: 4 receptions, 40 receiving yards, 1 TD
Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry will never have a ton of touchdowns or yards, but he'll always haul in a ton of catches.
Projections: 7 receptions, 65 receiving yards
Martavis Bryant, Pittsburgh Steelers
Mr. Touchdown, aka Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant, might be able to catch a long ball or two against a depleted Cleveland Browns secondary, but what you're really hoping for is the touchdown.
Projections: 3 receptions, 35 receiving yards, 1 TD
Allen Hurns, Jacksonville Jaguars
In his second season, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns has an impressive touchdown total of 10.
After going undrafted, it's great to see Hurns prospering.
He catches touchdowns consistently and is definitely a great commodity to own in the season finale.
Projections: 2 receptions, 35 receiving yards, 1 TD
Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks
By far the hottest receiver in the NFL as of late, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has a tall task ahead going up against the Arizona Cardinals.
Also, playing time could be a bit of an issue for Baldwin.
Projections: 5 receptions, 55 receiving yards
Jordan Matthews, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews' middle name should be "Garbage Time."
That's when all of his stats occur.
In a week when it could be very high-scoring and ugly against a New York Giants team that allows over 300 passing yards per game, Matthews may be in line for some, well, garbage time.
Projections: 5 receptions, 50 receiving yards
Jeremy Maclin, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has been on a tear lately.
This week, the Chiefs and Maclin will face an Oakland Raiders team that allows close to 280 passing yards per game.
Maclin has an extremely high ceiling in Week 17.
Projections: 4 receptions, 55 receiving yards
Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has not hit the century mark in receiving since Week 11.
Fitzgerald is still a great candidate to catch a healthy amount of passes, but like his fellow receiver Michael Floyd, the matchup is a concern.
Projections: 4 receptions, 50 receiving yards
Michael Floyd, Arizona Cardinals
Over his last four games, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd has gone over 100 yards receiving three times.
He's playing the best football of his career right now.
However, the matchup with the Seattle Seahawks is a cause for a little concern.
Projections: 4 receptions, 50 receiving yards
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are down to pretty much no one at wide reciever, thus making Mike Evans the only guy to throw a pass to.
However, Evans will be tasked with cornerback Josh Norman.
You know what that means.
Projections: 3 receptions, 40 receiving yards
Tight Ends
6 of 9
Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
Gronk smash.
Projections: 6 receptions, 100 receiving yards, 2 TD
Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers
He's the main target on a 14-1 team that is going up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, everyone.
Projections: 9 receptions, 90 receiving yards, 1 TD
Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins
Although he's played in 13 games this season, Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed is the TE2 in points-per-reception leagues.
Even if quarterback Kirk Cousins throws just one touchdown, there's a high likelihood it's going to Reed.
Projections: 5 receptions, 65 receiving yards, 1 TD
Gary Barnidge, Cleveland Browns
With Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel potentially out for the team's season finale, have no fear.
Tight end Gary Barnidge is matchup-proof and is just two points-per-reception format points behind Panthers tight end Olsen for the TE3 spot.
Projections: 4 receptions, 50 receiving yards, 1 TD
Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles
In Week 17, the Philadelphia Eagles will take on a New York Giants team that gives up a ton of passing yards per game.
Over his last two games, tight end Zach Ertz has been the go-to guy in Philly, catching 21 passes over his last two games.
Ertz should be in line for another good day.
Projections: 4 receptions, 50 receiving yards, 1 TD
Delanie Walker, Tennessee Titans
With Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Zach Mettenberger in the fold, tight end Delanie Walker is either catching a ton of passes, like he did in Week 16, or some touchdowns, like in Week 15.
Projections: 7 receptions, 70 receiving yards
Defense/Special Teams
7 of 9
Denver Broncos Defense/Special Teams
This is going to be a long game for the San Diego Chargers, and quarterback Philip Rivers.
Projections: 2 INTs, 5 sacks, 2 FF
Cincinnati Bengals Defense/Special Teams
Quarterback Ryan Mallett and the Baltimore Ravens may have been able to take care of business in Week 16, but the Cincinnati Bengals are on a whole other level.
Projections: 3 INTs, 4 sacks
Carolina Panthers Defense/Special Teams
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston threw four interceptions in the last meeting with the Carolina Panthers.
This could get ugly (again).
Projections: 2 INTs, 4 sacks, 1 FF
Best Sleeper Adds
8 of 9
Sam Bradford, QB, Philadelphia Eagles (Owned in 35 percent of Yahoo Leagues)
In Week 17, the Philadelphia Eagles will be taking on the New York Giants.
The Giants allow over 300 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks.
This game could get out of control quickly, and quarterback Sam Bradford should be able to benefit from a leaky Giants defense.
Bradford is a solid option in daily fantasy leagues as well.
Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets (Owned in 29 percent of Yahoo Leagues)
Twenty-nine percent is absurd.
New York Jets running back Bilal Powell is my RB6 in points-per-reception formats.
Go get him.
Theo Riddick, RB, Detroit Lions (Owned in 29 percent of Yahoo Leagues)
If you're in a points-per-reception league, Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick is at least a flex play every week.
His owned percentage is atrocious, and he should be owned in 100 percent of points-per-reception leagues.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, New York Jets (Owned in 51 percent of Yahoo Leagues)
With weapons such as wide receivers Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick needs to be owned this week in a game the Jets cannot lose, and against his former team, the Buffalo Bills.
Start or Sit?
9 of 9
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, New York Jets
New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is enjoying the best season of his career in 2015.
At 29 touchdowns, he ranks 10th in the league.
Also, Fitzpatrick has at least one touchdown pass in every game this year, except in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders when he got hurt.
He's my QB6 this week.
Verdict: Start
Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington Redskins
Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has been hot lately, throwing four touchdown passes in back-to-back games.
However, Cousins will go up against a tough Dallas Cowboys defense in Week 17.
It's worth mentioning that the Redskins have literally nothing to play for.
We could be seeing fellow quarterback Robert Griffin III this week.
Verdict: Sit
Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets
As mentioned in the previous slide, Jets running back Bilal Powell is my RB6 this week for points-per-reception formats.
Expect him to keep it going.
Verdict: Start
T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts
For the season finale, the Indianapolis Colts may be sporting the likes of quarterbacks Stephen Morris, Josh Freeman or, heck, they may even give you a call.
Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton will need a big play to be relevant this week.
Verdict: Sit
