The King continues his rise to the top of the scoring charts.

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James became the 17th-leading scorer in NBA history Monday night against the Phoenix Suns, passing Denver Nuggets legend Alex English with 25,614 points.

James came into Monday's matchup needing only five points to pass English on the all-time scoring list. He made a free throw with three minutes, 14 seconds remaining in the first quarter to pass the Hall of Famer.

The two-time NBA Finals MVP will turn 31 years old Wednesday. Right ahead of James on the list are three active players who will end up in the Hall of Fame one day: Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Tim Duncan.

James has been in a scoring slump over the last five games, averaging 17.8 points per contest. Despite that, he's putting together another MVP-type season, averaging almost 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game. If he continues to score like this, he could finish in the top 10 by the end of the season.
