Wizards' Marcin Gortat Wakes Up to Missed Messages, Thinks He Got Traded

Kyle NewportDec 28, 2015

Waking up to a bunch of missed messages and/or calls can make anyone panic. That anxiety only heightens when it happens to a professional athlete, as it could mean a career-changing move is occurring.

Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat dealt with that exact experience Monday.

According to a tweet he sent out Monday afternoon, Gortat woke up to approximately 20 missed messages. Seeing so many messages on his phone apparently made him believe he had to start packing his bags.

Fortunately for him, those messages were (likely) just congratulating him on winning the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award. Gortat averaged 21.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks during a three-game stretch last week.

Those types of numbers should have many teams interested in Gortat. However, the nine-year veteran is not going anywhere, so he can relax and sleep soundly again.
