Nike Foamposite One 'Blue Mirror' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Tyler ConwayJun 7, 2018

New Year's Eve is a special time across the country, but for sneakerheads it's going to be a true bonanza.

Nike will be releasing its "Blue Mirror" colorway of the Foamposite One, a shoe that's been in the ether since earlier this year. The release is yet another in the Mirror series and falls under the same general stratum.

Featuring a black upper and blue mirror shell, the shoe is striking from the moment you see it. The mirror shell jumps out and is a strong contrast to the black upper, which really only serves as a base here in this colorway.

The shoe is accentuated by a gray sole that does its job by staying out of the way. It's just enough of a contrast to the black to do its job while also blending in with the mirror shell.

The Foamposites have been a favorite since their release, and not even a $275 base price can keep the sneakerhead community away. Keep in mind that the Foamposites are one of the most iconic designs in history so there's some warranted excitement, but it's amazing how much of an affect these releases can have a decade and a half later.

"When the Foamposite was created, the process was so different that traditional ways of manufacturing had to be revamped," Russ Bengston of Complex wrote. "In order for the molded upper to stay attached to the midsole, it had to be five times stronger than traditional glue and stitching. So, in a way, the development of the Foamposite helped with other future technologies just by pushing the limits."

Going back to the Foamposite One is a smart move from Nike, which is understandably looking to cash in on nostalgia. The 15-year anniversary of the shoe's release should generate excitement, and the "Blue Mirror" release is a perfect example why.

We already know the Foamposite has no performance issues. With this sleek colorway, you can hit the court knowing you'll be comfortable while standing out.
