Army-Navy Game 2015: TV Schedule, Live Stream and Odds for Epic Rivalry

Steve SilvermanDec 12, 2015

Dormant.

That's the state of the Army-Navy rivalry in 2015, and it shows no signs of turning around any time soon.

These two teams will meet in Philadelphia Saturday, and Navy has dominated this series by winning the last 13 games. Army has not beaten its archrival since 2001, and a closer look at the 2015 version of this game indicates that the Black Knights are fighting a losing battle once again.

Navy brings a 9-2 record into the game, while Army has had a rough year with a 2-9 mark. This is the 18th time in the last 19 years that the Black Knights have had a losing record.

Navy has a legitimate superstar in quarterback Keenan Reynolds, who will be attempting to become the first quarterback in the history of the series to lead his team to a 4-0 record in four consecutive games in the series.

Reynolds has had a remarkable career for the Midshipmen, and many thought he would be taking a helicopter to the Downtown Athletic Club in New York following the game to be part of the Heisman Trophy presentation. However, that invitation did not come.

Reynolds is one of the best running quarterbacks in the nation. He has carried the ball 220 times this season, primarily in Navy's explosive triple-option offense. He has gained 1,093 yards and scored a whopping 19 touchdowns.

Reynolds is also quite competent when he puts the ball in the air. He completed 46-of-84 passes this season for 964 yards with a 6-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Running back Chris Swain is an ideal complementary runner, having gained 847 yards while scoring 10 touchdowns

Army head coach Jeff Monken refused to acknowledge that the losing streak has any importance to his team.

Army QB Ahmad Bradshawk

"This football team has never lost to Navy and that is the way we have to approach it," Monken told the Associated Press (h/t Yahoo). "These guys are not responsible for the last how many years it has been, they are responsible for this team and this year."

If Army is going to have any chance of upsetting the Middies, the defense has to limit Reynolds and keep him from breaking into the second level. That will be a major task for a defense that has given up 31 points or more four times.

Offensively, Army just does not have the weapons to keep up. The Black Knights also employ the triple option, but it is not as successful as Navy's. Army averages 254.1 rushing yards per game, while Navy is third in the nation with 330.1 rushing yards per game.

Sophomore quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw will try to lead the upset for Army. Bradshaw has run for 468 yards and five touchdowns, while passing for 429 yards and five more scores. Bradshaw has completed 47.9 percent of his passes.

Prediction: Navy 35, Army 10. It is a one-sided series and while Army lost by just a 17-10 margin a year ago, the Black Knights are not as good as they were last year. The Midshipmen will be in control of this game by halftime.
