Cotton Bowl 2015: Known Info Before Final Playoff Rankings Reveal
Everything is bigger in Texas. It's even bigger if you are playing in the Cotton Bowl this season. One of the most iconic bowls of the season, this year's Cotton Bowl is going to be the most important ever with a trip to the national championship on the line.
The participants in this game will be announced on Sunday, beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPN after what was an exciting day of conference championships on Saturday.
Here is everything you need to know about the Cotton Bowl before the teams are revealed:
| Thursday, Dec. 31 | 4 or 8 p.m. | AT&T Stadium | Arlington, Texas | ESPN |
The one team that seems slated into the Final Four, Oklahoma, which won the Big 12 during Week 13, could be the ideal squad to play in this game, as CollegeFootballPlayoff.com breaks down the criteria for choosing which matchup plays at which bowl:
"A. The team ranked No. 1 by the selection committee will play team No. 4 in the semifinals. Team No. 2 will meet team No. 3.
B. When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.
"
USA Today's Paul Myerberg has the same thinking:
And if the Top Four from the week before remains the same with Alabama at No. 2, then the Tide will most likely be playing in the Cotton Bowl.
With Oklahoma being so close and Alabama being one of the most popular teams in the nation, AT&T Stadium will certainly be rocking on New Year's Eve.
