La Liga Table 2015: Sunday's Week 13 Results and Updated Standings

A 2-0 victory at Eibar saw Real Madrid close the gap behind La Liga leaders Barcelona to six points on Sunday as Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo etched their names on the scoresheet.

Bale headed in a well-timed opener for Los Blancos just before the break, but manager Rafa Benitez was made to wait for his side's second before Ronaldo converted a decisive 82nd-minute penalty.

Sunday's evening fixture saw Sevilla triumph 1-0 over nine-man Valencia, with Nuno Espirito Santo's place at the helm of Los Che coming under further fire as a result.

Recap

It was far from an easy affair for the title hopefuls, but Real succeeded in a tough trip to Eibar on Sunday, as Bale bagged his first club goal since August to open the scoring.

Former White Hart Lane team-mate Luka Modric set the Welshman up to head home in the 43rd minute, and BBC Sport's Andy West couldn't help but note the pair's shared past in north London:

Benitez's side struggled to get Ronaldo into the fixture, however, and with Karim Benzema sitting on the bench, the Portuguese and Bale failed to find their fluidity as an attacking partnership.

Eibar might have held hope of stealing a late point from the match, but those chances were dashed after Daniel Garcia downed an opponent in the box to gift Ronaldo a penalty opportunity he didn't miss.

Substitute Lucas Vazquez won the spot-kick with what looked like a possible dive, and Eibar may feel slightly disappointed to have lost by a two-goal margin that didn't reflect their level of competition accurately.

Closer to mid-table, Sevilla jumped to within a single point of ninth-place Valencia after beating Los Che 1-0 on Sunday, where Joao Cancelo and Javi Fuego each saw red for the visiting party in what was a miserable trip to Andalusia.

A massive tally of 10 yellow cards were handed out altogether, and Mister Chip highlighted the tenacious trend that tends to follow when these teams meet at the Pizjuan:

Sergio Escudero scored just five minutes after the restart to capitalise upon Cancelo's first-half dismissal, before Fuego then earned his second caution in the 78th minute to end his outing.

ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan outlined Valencia's nonexistent presence in front of goal, although WhoScored.com reported Sevilla had 15 attempts at goal by full time, with Valencia failing to muster a single one:

One man who had no trouble finding the back of the net on Sunday was Athletic Bilbao striker Aduriz, who bagged a hat-trick to seal his side's 3-0 trouncing of Rayo.

The in-form forward now has 20 goals in 23 games this season, and despite being 34 years of age, Aduriz is deserving of a recall to Spain's national team, so says Yahoo's Andrew Gaffney:

Aduriz complete a three-goal haul on the 60-minute mark, but their result was tainted by the sending off of centre-back Aymeric Laporte just minutes later for a foul on Manucho.

The result moved Athletic up to seventh in the standings and Spanish football statistician Mister Chip provided context regarding just how special the form of Aduriz is right now:

Earlier in the day, Getafe produced one of their best attacking performances of the season so far in a 2-0 home defeat of Villarreal, where the hosts stood triumphant after taking their chances with aplomb.

Angel Lafita and Alvaro Vazquez provided the goals for Fran Escriba's side, while the Yellow Submarine failed to register even a single shot on target, according to WhoScored.com.

GETAFE, SPAIN - NOVEMBER 29: Alvaro Vazquez (L) of Getafe CF competes for the ball with Eric Bertrand Bailly (R) of Villarreal CF during the La Liga match between Getafe CF and Villareal CF at Coliseum Alfonso Perez on November 29, 2015 in Getafe, Spain.

The hosts were happy to absorb pressure from Villarreal, who accounted for a majority of the possession on Sunday, but the counter-attack proved fruitful for Getafe, whose finishing was far superior.

Lafita's opening strike was particularly impressive, as he cut in off the left flank before unleashing a right-footed shot past Alphonse Areola's near post, but La Liga commentator Deji Kofi Faremi rightly lambasted the visiting defence:

With Sunday's win in tow, Getafe maintained their record of keeping a clean sheet when they win this term, but Escriba's men can still hold serious concerns with their away form.

Los Azulones have picked up just a point on the road this term and make the short trip to Real Madrid next Saturday needing a prayer if they're to reverse their fortunes at the Santiago Bernabeu.
