Saturday Recap
Jamie Vardy broke the Premier League record for goals in consecutive matches, but it wasn't enough to beat Manchester United, as Bastian Schweinsteiger equalised just before half-time.
Vardy was marked closely throughout the match but found some space on the counter after a lovely ball from Christian Fuchs, and the Premier League top scorer didn't miss.
Bleacher Report UK congratulated the Leicester man:
United didn't play with a lot of creativity and failed to find any real openings in the Foxes defence, but they did look dangerous with their set-pieces. Schweinsteiger found himself on the end of a lovely ball from Daley Blind just before half time and powered home a header to pull his side level.
The second half saw few chances, although Leonardo Ulloa had a couple of good looks on goal he could have converted.
Thanks to the draw in Leicester, City returned to the top of the Premier League standings with a 3-1 win over Southampton.
Kevin De Bruyne looked absolutely dominant early on against the Saints, scoring a goal and assisting Fabian Delph inside the first 22 minutes to give the hosts a comfortable lead. Per Het Laatste Nieuws' Kristof Terreur, the Belgian has been nothing short of amazing since joining City during the summer:
De Bruyne took advantage of some sloppy defending to open the scoring from close range before setting up Delph with a perfect corner. He would add another assist in the second half, finding Aleksandar Kolarov and just about guaranteeing the win. Shane Long had pulled one back for the visitors just after the break.
The win sees City return to the top of the table and gives the team some much-needed momentum after the midweek loss against Juventus, but it came at a price. Star striker Sergio Aguero limped off the pitch in the second half after he appeared to roll his ankle, and the Argentinian may face yet another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
As shared by City's official Twitter account, manager Manuel Pellegrini couldn't give an answer on how serious Aguero's injury was, but he expressed his delight at his players' strong showing against Southampton:
Everton gave away a two-goal lead at Bournemouth, as Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas completed a shock comeback for the Cherries before some last-minute craziness led to the final score.
Romelu Lukaku continued his excellent scoring streak against Bournemouth, doubling Everton's lead after Ramiro Funes Mori had broken the deadlock.
The Toffees were looking fantastic, and MailOnline Sport's Adam Crafton was already singing their praises:
"So glad Everton stuck with Martinez when others might not have last season. A v exciting young team that should grow if they spend TV cash
— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) November 28, 2015"
But that same young team showed its inexperience in the second half, as they looked sloppy in front of goal and were caught out of position on multiple occasions. Smith and Stanislas both struck inside the final 10 minutes, giving the home fans plenty of reasons to celebrate.
Ross Barkley thought he had won it for the visitors with a strike deep in injury time, but Stanislas bagged his second of the match just one minute later, to the dismay of the Toffees.
Crystal Palace made the crisis at St James' Park a little bigger by crushing Newcastle United 5-1, with James McArthur and Yannick Bolasie both scoring twice. Wilfried Zaha added his name to the scoresheet for the Eagles', and per former England international Gary Lineker, Magpies manager Steve McClaren may be in trouble:
Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney were both on point for Watford, who stole a late win against Aston Villa. Ighalo had opened the score early, and an Alan Hutton own goal and Micah Richards' header had made the score 2-1 heading into the final minutes.
Deeney made it 3-1 to just about put Villa away, despite Jordan Ayew's late goal to set the final score at 3-2.
Patrick van Aanholt and Duncan Watmore both scored in the final minutes to give Sunderland their third win of the season, beating Stoke City 2-0 and climbing out of the relegation zone in the process.
