Tuesday Recap

It has been a miserable season for Blues manager Jose Mourinho, but he finally has a result to make him happy as his side reigned supreme in Israel.
Gary Cahill gave Chelsea the lead midway through the first half, but a late blitz in the final 20 minutes—with goals from Willian, Oscar and Kurt Zouma—wrapped up a fine night for the west London club.
The English team showed signs of last season's form as they ripped Maccabi to pieces, but it is worth remembering the opposition were not of the highest class.
Porto's shock 2-0 loss to Dynamo Kiev in Portugal allowed Chelsea to take top spot in the group.

Arsenal kept their interests in this year's competition intact with a convincing 3-0 win against Dinamo Zagreb in north London. Mesut Ozil opened the scoring for the Gunners, and two strikes from Alexis Sanchez on either side of half-time kept Arsenal in the hunt for the runners-up spot in Group F.
Pundit Rio Ferdinand commented on Arsenal's performance in the first half as the goals began to hit the back of the net:
The performance of the night was reserved for Barcelona, who thrashed Roma 6-1 after their recent Clasico success.
Lionel Messi returned to the starting line-up and scored twice. Luis Suarez bagged a brace, with further goals from Gerard Pique and Adriano.
The victory assures the group win for the Blaugrana as they look to defend their title.

Bayern were once again impressive, beating Olympiakos 4-0 in Bavaria, opening the door to qualification for Arsenal.
The German champions were 3-0 up inside 20 minutes after goals from Douglas Costa, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.
Teenage sensation Kingsley Coman put the icing on the cake for coach Pep Guardiola with a fourth late on.

Bayer Leverkusen remain below Roma in the group after their 1-1 draw with BATE Borisov prevented them moving into second.
Zenit Saint Petersburg maintained their spotless record in the Champions League, beating Valencia 2-0 at home. The Group H winners earned the victory with strikes from Oleg Shatov and Artem Dzyuba, damaging Los Che's chances of finishing as runners-up.
Gent leapfrogged the La Liga side into second place with a well earned 2-1 against Lyon in France.

Arsenal will feel relieved they played to their best capacity after losing to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, and Wenger's side looked focused and business-like.
However, it is Mourinho and Chelsea who will breathe a sigh of relief as they produced the football expected of them, and the big scoreline will go a long way to mending their confidence.
Barca have been irresistible in Spain recently, but the return of Messi is ominous for every side in the Champions League.
Roma could not keep their heads above water with the Argentina wizard pulling the strings, and the Camp Nou giants will be incredibly hard to beat in the months ahead.
