LeBron James Comments on Warriors' Success After Undefeated Start to 2015 Season
After the way in which the Golden State Warriors have used any real or perceived slight against them as motivation to repeat as NBA champions, LeBron James may be tempting fate with his comments about their record-tying 15-0 start to the 2015-16 season.
"I think it comes with a lot of health," James said, per ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin. "They've been healthy. They've been the most healthy team I've ever seen in NBA history, and they have great talent. Those guys all play for one common goal and that's to win, and that's all that matters."
Back in October, Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers told Zach Lowe for Grantland the Warriors were lucky to a certain extent that they avoided the Clippers and the San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs en route to their title. Clippers guard J.J. Redick also said Golden State "had everything go right" and "didn’t have one bad break."
That led to Steph Curry's now-famous fake apology:
James' comments aren't out of line and are not altogether unfair. Curry, Andre Iguodala, Harrison Barnes, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green missed a combined 15 games in 2014-15, and only Thompson has failed to appear in each of the team's first 15 games in 2015-16.
Any NBA team is much better with all of its key players healthy, and if the Warriors want to reach 70-plus wins, they'll need to have a repeat of last year when it comes to avoiding injuries.
