Kevin Durant Inducted into Oklahoma Hall of Fame: Latest Details and Reaction
Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is already among the most influential figures in the Sooner State's storied sports history, and he was honored for that Thursday in the form of an induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
According to SI.com, the 27-year-old former University of Texas standout took his place among the immortals in the state of Oklahoma with an entertaining acceptance speech.
Anthony Slater of the Oklahoman provided a full transcript of his speech, which included an endorsement for teammate Russell Westbrook:
The Washington, D.C., native is already a six-time All-Star selection, four-time scoring champion, one-time MVP and one-time Western Conference champion over the course of just nine NBA seasons.
He has struggled with injuries as of late, as a foot ailment limited him to just 27 games last season. In addition to that, he is currently nursing a strained hamstring.
When Durant is on the floor, though, he is unquestionably one of the NBA's best players along with the likes of Stephen Curry and LeBron James.
He is scheduled to hit free agency following the 2015-16 season, and there is no shortage of speculation regarding where he will ultimately end up.
It is clear based on his speech that Durant has grown quite fond of Oklahoma, however. Even though his line about returning next year for Westbrook's potential induction may not have meant anything with regard to his impending free agency, it could give Thunder fans hope that he'll stay put in OKC.
