Mathis Suffered Concussion in Week 7
Wednesday, Nov. 11
In a bit of a bizarre situation, Mathis reportedly suffered a concussion in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings but passed his tests and was put in the "return to play protocol," per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
He then suffered headaches on the Thursday after the Minnesota game and on game day against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8 before ultimately being held out of that contest, per Michael Rothstein of ESPN.
He was diagnosed with a concussion from an independent neurologist, per Kyle Meinke of MLive.com.
Mathis, 35, has appeared in seven games for the Lions this season, accumulating 31 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble. The Lions have dealt with a number of injuries at the position this year, and Josh Wilson or Nevin Lawson will be forced into starting duty if Mathis can't go against the Green Bay Packers.
