College Football's Most Important Offers of the Week
It’s tough to beat Alabama head coach Nick Saban on the recruiting trail when he zeroes in on a prospect he covets.
When that prospect happens to be an in-state kid, that task becomes a monumental challenge.
Last week, the Tide offered 3-star running back and current Florida commit Lamical Perine.
The Theodore (Alabama) High School product has been committed to the Gators since May, but the offer from the Tide is one that carries significance for the in-state standout.
According to Hank South of BamaOnline, Perine’s stepfather, Jimmie Haywood, noted that Perine was fond of the Tide program as a kid.
“It’s an honor. (Lamical) was very excited,” Haywood told South of the Tide offer. “It’s always an honor to interact with Alabama. It was one of his dream schools growing up as a kid. I think Alabama and Florida were pretty much tied as his dream schools growing up.”
However, Perine hasn’t given any indication that his pledge to the Gators is on shaky ground.
Instead, he seems to be pretty firm in his commitment.
Still, as signing day approaches, it will be interesting to see if Saban and his staff make a big push for Perine. The lure of the Tide program could be tough to turn down in the end.

Texas Offers 4-star WR
The rebuilding job for Texas head coach Charlie Strong begins with the Longhorns offense, and his quest for answers will lead him to searching for elite prospects on the recruiting trail.
Last week, Texas offered 4-star receiver Stephen Sullivan.

The 6’5”, 230-pounder, who was once committed to LSU before reopening his process, is still considering the Tigers along with programs such as Auburn and TCU.
However, with Texas now entering the mix, the next step will be for Strong and his staff to push for a visit from the nation’s No. 18 receiver and No. 105 prospect overall.

Nebraska Offers 2016 FL DE
It’s been a tough debut for Nebraska head coach Mike Riley in Lincoln.
The main challenge he and his staff will face in the offseason is replenishing the Cornhuskers' roster with talent on both sides of the ball.
Last week, the ‘Huskers offered 3-star defensive end Terrell Lucas.

California, Duke, Michigan and Minnesota are among the other programs who have tendered the 6’3”, 224-pound pass-rusher.
Adding a talented edge-rusher such as Lucas would help the ‘Huskers defense shore up a pass defense that is among the worst in the Big Ten this season, as noted by cfbstats.

UCLA After 2017 DTs
A lot of top programs around the nation have begun the push to identify top talent in the 2017 class.
Last week, UCLA narrowed its focus to finding elite junior defensive tackles as head coach Jim Mora Jr. and his staff offered a trio of 4-star prospects at that position.

UCLA offered Donovan Jeter out of Pennsylvania. The Bruins also offered a pair of New Jersey products in Fred Hansard and Dalyn Wade-Perry.

With the early attention they are paying to players across the country, the Bruins are hoping the offers will pay off down the road as the recruitment of all three prospects plays out.
