Premier League Results: 2015 EPL Week 12 Scores, Table, Best Fantasy Performers

Gianni VerschuerenNov 8, 2015

Sunday's Premier League 2015 results didn't provide any major fantasy performers, with the six teams involved scoring just five goals between them. Aston Villa held Manchester City to a scoreless draw, the north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur finished 1-1 and Crystal Palace handed Jurgen Klopp his first loss as Liverpool manager, winning 2-1 at Anfield.

Scott Dann scored the winner for the Eagles, who have now beaten Liverpool in three consecutive Premier League fixtures, and thanks to his defensive efforts, he leads all of Sunday's performers with eight fantasy points―prior to the addition of the bonus points.

Scott Dann, Crystal Palace, 8 points; Yannick Bolasie, Crystal Palace, 7 Points

Yannick Bolasie opened the scoring for the Eagles and Dann added a late winner, and as a result, both earned top marks for the visitors on Sunday.

Bolasie was Palace's main danger man from the opening whistle, with Liverpool keeping a close eye on Yohan Cabaye. Wilfried Zaha grew into the match and could have had a goal himself, but the threat of Bolasie never went away. Manager Alan Pardew said his great showing was down to confidence, more than anything, via Neil Jones of the Liverpool Echo:

Cabaye has been the Eagles' main danger man in terms of fantasy value, but in the past couple of weeks, opponents have done everything possible to pressure the Frenchman high up the pitch and neutralise his threat.

In turn, there has been more space to work with for Bolasie, who excels at using his athleticism in between the lines. With a tasty matchup with Sunderland on the horizon after the international break, the forward could be an interesting short-term addition to any fantasy squad.

The Black Cats have conceded a league-worst 26 goals in 12 matches, so Bolasie will have his chances in Week 13.

Highlighting fantasy defenders is always tricky, and one has to take into account the fact that Liverpool's defenders and goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet, gifted Dann his goal. The Belgian stopper punched Dann's initial header straight into his path. Palace will be at home against Sunderland, so Dann could have another solid outing.

Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool, 7 points

How good has Philippe Coutinho been since the appointment of Klopp as the Reds' manager? Just take a look at this statistic from WhoScored.com:

As far as form and outlook goes, Coutinho is part of a small, elite group of attacking midfielders capable of providing a goal or assist at a weekly basis. Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Arsenal's Mesut Ozil have a similar outlook, as does Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez if his form holds.

No one knows whether the Foxes will keep their hot form up all season, however, and both De Bruyne and Ozil have a lot of competition in their own squad for touches, with the likes of David Silva and Santi Cazorla, among others.

Liverpool are built around Coutinho and his superb attacking skills. Adam Lallana seems to be growing under Klopp, and Jordon Ibe is starting to find his form, but in nine out of 10 matches, Coutinho is the Reds' catalyst. His long-term outlook remains as high as ever, and he's a safe addition to just about any fantasy squad.

Kieran Gibbs, Arsenal, 7 points

Spurs' Harry Kane stole the show in the north London derby, putting together one of his most complete matches of the season, but substitute Kieran Gibbs ended up with the most fantasy points, one more than Kane and two more than Ozil.

Broadcaster John Dykes was quick to call the full-back a super sub, which is a little curious, looking at this stat from Sky Sports Statto:

Gibbs' goal was a big one for Arsenal, and he deserves all the plaudits for being in the right place at the right time, but from a fantasy point of view, it changes nothing to his value. Nacho Monreal is the starter at the left-back position, and as long as he keeps performing, that won't change.

What fans should take away from this match is that Ozil is still running the Arsenal show, and he remains a safe bet to get at least one assist in most weeks.

Meanwhile, Kane seems to finally be finding his form, and he could be a worthwhile addition to your squad. However, with Jamie Vardy and Odion Ighalo still going strong, those two―and particularly the former―should be starting for most fantasy teams.
