Twitter Reacts as Arsenal Come from Behind to Draw with Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur made the short trip across the city to face Arsenal in a highly anticipated North London derby. Spurs were enjoying a fine run of results, while the Gunners' ruthless Premier League form had been interrupted by a midweek Champions League thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Before kick-off, fans and players from both sides took a minute to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday:

For the home side, a name familiar to North London derbies of the past reappeared in the form of Joel Campbell:

"

Nice to see a Campbell on the pitch for a North London Derby. Feels like the 90s.

But it was the visitors who struck first, Harry Kane continuing his fine run of form with his sixth goal in four games, courtesy of some sloppy Arsenal defending:

"

Harry Kane has now scored 22 goals in the Premier League during 2015, more than any other player. Super #NLD pic.twitter.com/OjmIMN9kM3

"

Second time in a week that an Arsenal central defender has stepped up appallingly. Dreadful.

— Daniel Storey (@danielstorey85) November 8, 2015"
"

Second match in succession #Arsenal offside trap be caught out. George Graham would not be amused.

— Matt Hughes (@MattHughesTimes) November 8, 2015"
"

Cool finish from Kane to put Tottenham 1-0 up. Again, Arsenal offside trap not exactly remniscent of Adams and Bould at their peak

— Oliver Kay (@OliverKayTimes) November 8, 2015"

Half-time came with the visitors ahead, with home fans looking to the bench for a previous derby hero to save the day:

"

Tottenham sharper and more dangerous going forward - worthy of their HT lead. Time for Arsenal to unleash the beast? pic.twitter.com/DuplNpZpFg

"

Mathieu 'the Spud killer' Flamini is readying to enter the fray. Fasten your seatbelt.

"

Mathieu Flamini on at half-time for another derby rescue job. Santi Cazorla off.

With Theo Walcott injured, responsibility fell to Olivier Giroud to lead the line for Arsenal, but the Frenchman failed to capitalise on a number of good opportunities:

"

Form is temporary, Giroud's lack of sufficient class for title-challenging side is permanent.

— Daniel Storey (@danielstorey85) November 8, 2015"
"

At some stage Tottenham should consider marking Giroud at set pieces.

Just as it looked like Spurs would hold on for an impressive derby win, substitute Kieran Gibbs met a Mesut Ozil cross to bring Arsenal level:

"

Mesut Ozil makes it 10 Premier League assists for the season! #AFC

— Sam Tighe (@stighefootball) November 8, 2015"
"

6 - Mesut Ozil is the first player to assist goals in six consecutive Premier League games. Master.

It was an all too familiar feeling for Tottenham's long-suffering fans:

"

So Spurs. So so Spurs.

— Elizabeth Ammon (@legsidelizzy) November 8, 2015"
"

Spursy.

— Dave Tickner (@tickerscricket) November 8, 2015"

Arsenal dominated the final stages, but the visitors held on for a share of the spoils.

"

Arsenal badly depleted by injuries. Spurs (much more resilient these days) did well to survive last 15mins with a point. 1-1 ft.

— Paul Hayward (@_PaulHayward) November 8, 2015"
"

Good point for Arsenal in the end. Lethargic and second-best for large periods. Joint-top with players to return after international break
