Thursday Recap

Dortmund were rampant in their comprehensive 4-0 win over Qabala.

Marco Reus fired home from distance to open the scoring shortly before the half-hour mark, and on the stroke of half-time, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his phenomenal goalscoring run, per Squawka Football:

An own goal for Sergei Zenjov added a third, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed the scoring with an emphatic finish, per BT Sport Football:

Football writer Stefan Buczko highlighted the one-sided nature of the game:

Napoli were similarly dominant as they put five past Midtjylland. Omar El Kaddouri and a first-half brace from Manolo Gabbiadini gave the Partenopei a healthy lead at half-time.

An outstanding effort from Christian Maggio and a header from Jose Callejon secured Napoli's 14th consecutive win in all competitions and a place in the next round, per the tournament's official Twitter feed:

A lovely finish from Harry Kane gave Tottenham Hotspur a slender half-time lead in a hotly contested clash in north London, per BT Sport Football:

Substitute Imoh Ezekiel converted Steven Defour's cross shortly after coming on, but Mousa Dembele's late thunderbolt saved the three points for the Lilywhites:

Liverpool earned a deserved win in Russia as they dispatched Rubin Kazan 1-0. The Reds dominated proceedings and could have racked up plenty of goals if not for a lack of cutting edge.

Jordon Ibe's first goal for the club proved enough in the end, though, and the winger impressed with a lively display. Squawka Football shared his stats:

The Liverpool Echo's James Pearce hailed the Reds' performance:

It was a night to forget for Celtic as they went down 2-1 at home to Molde. Mohamed Elyounoussi's volley put the visitors ahead before the hosts somewhat fortuitously equalised when the ball deflected in off Kris Commons, but Daniel Berg Hestad stabbed in a deserved winner.

Celtic's Mikael Lustig conceded his side weren't good enough, per BT Sport Football:

It was a good night for the competition's two Spanish sides, as both Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao picked up three points.

Maksim Vitus took the lead for Dinamo Minsk against El Submarino Amarillo. But substitute Roberto Soldado and an own goal from Sergei Politevich ensured the Belarusian side are knocked out, while Villarreal need only a point to qualify.

A brace from Inaki Williams and goals from Benat, Gorka Elustondo and Aritz Aduriz's 100th for the club earned Bilbao a comfortable win over Partizan Belgrade, whose sole reply came from Aboubakar Oumarou.

Italy enjoyed a similarly productive night, with Lazio and Fiorentina adding to Napoli's win to ensure a clean sweep.

Filip Dordevic's brace ensured Lazio have all but qualified for the next round, while Fiorentina have given themselves an excellent chance of progressing thanks to Josip Ilicic's brace.

The standout teams of the competition remain Dortmund and Napoli, and the pair once again showed it will take a monumental effort to overcome either. Expect both to enjoy deep runs into the tournament and more than likely for one of them to win it outright.
