Wednesday Recap

There was embarrassment for Arsenal in Germany on Wednesday night as coach Arsene Wenger witnessed his team collapse at the hands of Pep Guardiola and Bayern Munich.
The English team were battered from pillar to post as the Bundesliga champions ran riot, overloading their opponent's box with every opportunity.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring with a neat header early on, and Thomas Muller made it two shortly after with a close-range, deflected effort.
A David Alaba blockbuster from distance buried Wenger's team shortly before the break as the Gunners folded.

Substitute Arjen Robben scored with his first touch in the second half to compound Arsenal's misery, but the visitors were compensated as Olivier Giroud scored a tremendous bicycle kick.
However, it was the hosts who put the tie to bed as Muller grabbed his second of the night, slotting past Petr Cech with skill and precision to make it 5-1.
Tactics blogger and professional coach Matt Whitehouse was scathing of the Gunners' performance as they disintegrated:
"First you have to give credit to Bayern for their quality," Wenger said, per SkySports.com. "On top of that, we made things quite easy for them with our defensive performance. We were extremely poor defensively, we were not at the races."
Barcelona had a comfortable night at the Camp Nou, skipping past BATE to all but qualify from Group E.
Two goals from Neymar and an additional strike from Luis Suarez gave the Blaugrana the 3-0 win.
Barca have 10 points from their four games and need just a point to qualify, although their superior goal difference should be enough.

Chelsea were mightily relieved in their fixture with Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge, obtaining a nervous 2-1 win against the previously unbeaten Russians.
Austrian Aleksandar Dragovic scored at both ends of the pitch—first for Chelsea with an own goal, and then for Kiev—to tie the match, but a world-class free-kick from Willian found the back of net to give the English champions the three points they craved.
Roma took an early two-goal lead in their match with Bayer Leverkusen through Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko, but strikes from Admir Mehmedi and Javier Hernandez squared the game in the second half only for a Miralem Pjanic penalty to win the battle 3-2, boosting the Romans up to second in the group.

Felipe Pardo was the hero of the hour for Olympiakos as the Greeks continued their excellent European form with a 2-1 win against Zagreb.
The Colombian netted twice to steal the points, keeping his side level with Munich in Group F.
Cristian Tello opened the scoring for Porto in their convincing 3-1 against Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. Further efforts from Andre Andre and Miguel Layun sealed the easy win, as Eran Zahavi grabbed a late consolation for the hosts.
Sven Kums' penalty was enough for Gent in their tie with Valencia, striking just after half-time to keep the Belgians' qualification hope alive in a 1-0 win.

However, the night belonged to Zenit as they prevailed 2-0 against Lyon in France, as a double from Artem Dzyuba made it a maximum 12 points from four matches for the Russians, taking them into the next round with two to play.
Arsenal looked outclassed against Bayern on Wednesday, and their lack of bravery on the ball was different to what is witnessed in the Premier League every week.
The Gunners appeared to have a complex against the Germans on Wednesday, and they were mentally defeated as soon as Lewandowski scored the first goal.
The Emirates club are now staring a Europa League campaign in the face unless they can perform a miracle in the final two group games.
