Sammy Watkins Responds to Injury Critics with Instagram Comment
Welp, Sammy Watkins has broken the cardinal rule of the Internet—the one that states, "Never read the comments. Ever. Even if the building is burning."
It's a hard-and-fast guideline all of us break every day, and with Watkins spending more time resting up with an ankle injury, it appears he too has fallen prey to the siren's call of anonymous Internet opinions.
Buffalo sports fan Billy Korhummel (h/t Shutdown Corner's Ben Rohrbach) tweeted an image of an Instagram comment posted by the Buffalo Bills wide receiver on Tuesday.

UPDATE:
Sammy Watkins has posted an apology for his comments on Instagram:
Watkins wrote the apology in his caption:
"Just want to Thank all my fans for their support please don't retract yesterday's statement. My frustration is wanting to help the team and win for the city of Buffalo and for my teammates. As a player we need critics and also fans that's apart of the game, majority of the negative comments were from other fans not the Bills fans. My comments were still inappropriate don't matter what fan or who others cheer for we all represent the NFL shield Therefore #letsgobuffalo
"
---End of Update---
In it, Watkins sounds off on those who have criticized him (presumably on social media) for missing three games so far this season:
Watkins has since deleted the comment, which is to be expected.
The 22-year-old is obviously frustrated with his situation, which he perceives as vacillating between injured and out of mind.
Watkins recently expressed his desire for more targets, which is an issue the Bills need to address. In the four games he's played this season, Watkins has been targeted a total of 17 times.
That shakes out to just over four looks a game—which would be fine if Watkins wasn't the team's No. 1 draft pick in 2014 and its most talented pair of hands.
But the lack of reps and obvious chemistry problems with whoever is under center for Buffalo on Sundays (spin the wheel!) seem to have left the former Clemson star outside the comfort zone for Bills passers.
This is an issue Watkins and coaches will have to deal with in private.
As for social media usage, just remember Mufasa's words, Sammy: The comments are a shadowy place beyond our borders. You must never go there.
Dan is on Twitter. Every comment you read is like a cigarette you stick up your nose.
