Daily Fantasy Football Week 6: DraftKings DFS Value Guide and Projections

Steven CookOct 18, 2015

Week in and week out in daily fantasy football, players emerge from low salaries to put up shocking stat lines. Incredible value can be found with the right research, and Week 6 is no different.

Whether it's a banged-up unit that is allowing for an unheard-of playmaker to step up or someone flying under the radar despite consistent performances, great value can be found at each position. Nabbing a couple of these sleepers will allow you to have more freedom with big-money names elsewhere in your DraftKings lineup.

Teddy Bridgewater (Vikings)KC12.0$5,30018.8
Brian Hoyer (Texans)JAX17.5$5,10016.4
Jay Cutler (Bears)DET15.5$5,20018.1

The Kansas City Chiefs have been putrid against the pass, giving up 13 touchdowns while forcing just two interceptions all season. That has them ranking 31st against opposing quarterbacks, and Teddy Bridgewater's consistent improvement this season will allow him another good outing.

Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer took hold of the starting quarterback job despite a loss to Indianapolis last Thursday, going for more than 300 yards and throwing two touchdowns. Jacksonville's secondary is improved but will struggle with DeAndre Hopkins, giving Hoyer a good chance at big points.

Since returning from injury, Jay Cutler has been solid, amassing four touchdowns and more than 500 yards in two games. The Lions secondary has been lifeless this season, giving up nine scores through the air.

Running Backs

C.J. Anderson (Broncos)CLE6.1$4,50015.4
Charcandrick West (Chiefs)MIN1.5$4,00014.1
Antonio Andrews (Titans)MIA13.8$3,40014.0

The Cleveland Browns defense has been run all over by every team except Tennessee, which was the only team they held a big lead against and forced to pass. C.J. Anderson has had a brutal start to 2015, but the Broncos will be intent on establishing the run to take on the Browns' weakness.

Kansas City isn't expecting to replace Jamaal Charles with one back, as head coach Andy Reid told the Chiefs' official site that Charcandrick West and Knile Davis would split carries. But West got seven carries in Charles' place Sunday while Davis got just two, and West is the better receiving option out of the backfield.

Antonio Andrews is quietly becoming the go-to guy in the Titans' backfield committee, scoring for the second straight game in Week 5 against Buffalo. He has more than 100 combined yards through the air and on the ground in the last two games and goes up against Miami's league-worst run defense.

Wide Receivers

Anquan Boldin (49ers)BAL12.2$4,30015.4
Marquess Wilson (Bears)DET8.9$4,00019.4
Dwayne Harris (Giants)PHI6.1$3,10015.0

In four games this season, Anquan Boldin has exploded for big DFS points twice—most recently a 107-yard, touchdown performance against the Giants last week. His 49ers turn around to face a Ravens defense ranking 31st against opposing receivers.

Marquess Wilson is almost singlehandedly giving Cutler a chance to push the ball deep down the field, catching 12 balls for 165 yards and a score in his last two games. With Alshon Jeffery questionable to return in Week 6, expect Wilson to be the featured guy again.

Speaking of offenses that have needed guys to step up, the Giants have needed that with Victor Cruz continuing to miss games and Odell Beckham Jr. now hampered by injury. With Beckham's status unknown, Sigmund Bloom of Footballguys.com is one of many who likes Harris:

Harris has 11 catches in his last two games, and his near minimum salary is a steal against Philadelphia's below-average pass defense.

Tight Ends

Richard Rodgers (Packers)SD9.9$3,10011.2
Zach Ertz (Eagles)NYG6.3$2,90012.8

Zach Ertz hasn't put up the consistent points that many fantasy league owners expected, but he's beginning to come around as a DFS option. Coming off his first double-digit outing of the season, Ertz's role should expand against a Giants defense ranking 30th against tight ends.

Packers tight end Richard Rodgers hasn't waited to put up consistent points, surpassing double-digit totals in three of the last four weeks. Two of those include a touchdown, which could be on the cards again versus San Diego.

Defense/Special Teams

Chicago BearsDET3.8$2,4009.4
Jacksonville JaguarsHOU3.4$2,7009.2

It's not often that the third-lowest salaried team defense has a chance to be one of the best values of the week. The Chicago Bears boast that opportunity against a Detroit Lions offense that has no running game to speak of and is putting too much on Matthew Stafford's shoulders.

The Jacksonville Jaguars also go up against an offense that is somewhat of a mystery in the Houston Texans. The Jags have held opponents to 20 points or fewer in three of five games.
