UK Back Pages: Mourinho Blasts FA Fine, Wenger Suggests Retirement Date

Ryan BaileyOct 15, 2015

It's not every day that the back page of a major UK newspaper shows Jose Mourinho looking unimpressed while posing for a selfie in a book shop.

That is, however, the image that adorns the back of the Metro on Friday morning, as The Special One used his latest book launch to criticise the FA for imposing a £50,000 fine and a suspended stadium ban on him for criticising officials after Chelsea's recent home defeat to Southampton.

The Times also splashed with Mou's claim that the English governing body is a "disgrace," while noting that the Chelsea boss also claimed to be surprised that he had not been asked to wear an electronic tag:

The Mirror, meanwhile, lead with the claim that Mourinho's frenemy Arsene Wenger has finally set a date for his retirement. According to chief football writer John Cross, the Frenchman will step down in 19 months' time:

The Mirror also notes that David Moyes has emerged as a front-runner to replace Tim Sherwood when he is eventually relieved of his duties at Aston Villa.

The Independent chose to lead their football coverage with the ensuing injury crisis at Liverpool. Danny Ings is the latest Reds star to hit the physio table after picking up a cruciate ligament injury during training:

The Guardian also recount Jurgen Klopp's injury woes, but they lead with the news that UEFA will give Michel Platini its full backing in his quest to become FIFA president, despite the ongoing investigations looking into possible corruption:
