Highest-Projected Scorers of the Week

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals dropped a surprising matchup with the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, losing 24-22. However, their average scoring output wasn't enough to dethrone them from their place atop the league in total points, with 148 over four games.

In both Weeks 2 and 3, Arizona scored more than 40 points: 48 against the Chicago Bears and then 47 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Carson Palmer has thrown for 10 touchdowns, which is second only to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' 11 on the season. Veteran wideout Larry Fitzgerald has been a favorite end-zone target, catching half of Palmer's touchdown throws.

The Cardinals backfield of Chris Johnson, David Johnson and Andre Ellington have contributed another four rushing touchdowns to the season total.

And don't count out kicker Chandler Catanzaro, whose 14 field goals made have added another 43 points to the team's total.

Even though Arizona showed it can, in fact, be beaten and its offense slowed against the Rams, there's no reason to expect a hangover into Week 5 against the Detroit Lions.

The Lions defense has been putrid in yards per game allowed, with an average of 27.7, which is the fourth-worst in the league. Arizona will certainly be able to take advantage of that.

Projected points: 38

New England Patriots

Coming off their Week 4 bye, the undefeated Patriots will be looking to keep their momentum going against the Dallas Cowboys, who will be without quarterback Tony Romo and running back Lance Dunbar, who the Cowboys fear tore his left ACL and MCL on Sunday night, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What a contrast that Dallas team will make against the Patriots, freshly rested off their bye and having been spared from any huge season-ending injuries.

New England has been carried by a high-scoring offense through its first three games of the season, averaging 39.7 points per game as of Monday afternoon. That puts the Patriots atop the league despite the fact that they have played one fewer game than any other team.

In terms of total points, there are 29 points standing between the Patriots and the Arizona Cardinals, who lead the league with 148, which the Patriots should easily be able to score, and then some, against Dallas.

Tom Brady has been nearly perfect through his first three games, throwing for nine touchdowns and no interceptions. Dion Lewis and LeGarrette Blount have added another five touchdowns between them on the ground.

The Cowboys defense has been allowing an average of 25.3 points per game, but Atlanta scored 39 on them in Week 3.

Projected points: 35

Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals signal-caller Andy Dalton has been playing some of the best football of his career so far in 2015, which has gone a long way toward helping the Bengals average 30.3 points per game, fourth-best in the league prior to Monday night's game.

Expect them to hit just above that mark again in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks, whose defense has been less that stout this season.

Seattle is allowing opponents to score an average of 20.3 points per game, putting it near the middle of the pack this season.

That's a far cry from the unit that allowed opponents to score only 15.9 points per game in 2014, which was a league-best.

Most of Cincinnati's points have come at the hands of Dalton, who has thrown nine touchdowns, which have been distributed among receiver A.J. Green, tight end Tyler Eifert, himself having a career season, and receivers Marvin Jones and Brandon Tate.

Running back Jeremy Hill, however, has also contributed his fair share toward the Bengals' scoring efforts, rushing for five touchdowns on the season so far.

Cincinnati may be the most balanced team in the league, and its offense is demanding to be taken seriously. The Seahawks might learn that the hard way in Week 5.

Projected points: 31
