Martin Returns vs. Kings
Friday, Dec. 18
While Martin didn't start against Sacramento, he did play in the contest.
How Martin's Presence Impacts Timberwolves
Tayshaun Prince took Martin's place in the starting lineup.
Martin was the Timberwolves' top scorer last season at 20 points per game, but he was limited to just 39 appearances due to a broken wrist. The injury wasn't new to Martin, who also broke a bone in his left wrist during the 2009 season.
While Martin has rightfully been overshadowed by the arrivals of franchise cornerstones Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, the veteran 2-guard has been a fairly steady scorer over the course of his career.
Despite being limited throughout the 2014-15 season, Martin joined Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Blake Griffin, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant as the only players to average at least 20 points and shoot better than 39 percent from three, per Basketball-Reference.com.
Prior to his injury, Martin was averaging 12.7 points on 36.7 percent shooting from the field and 34.8 percent shooting from three.
Wiggins is clearly Minnesota's primary perimeter option, but Martin helps space the floor for a team that entered Wednesday night ranked 20th in three-point percentage and 29th in threes attempted.
