Hoffenheim vs. Borussia Dortmund: Team News, Predicted Lineups and TV Info

Stefan BienkowskiSep 22, 2015

Borussia Dortmund will once again be asked to overcome a sizeable task in the Bundesliga when they travel to Hoffenheim on Wednesday night. There, they will face a Markus Gisdol side who have yet to win a game in the division this season but still have a nasty bite to them.

Thomas Tuchel's own team will still be riding high from their 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday and will have every intention of maintaining their 100 percent start to the new season. Yet with another game so quickly upon them, the new manager may have to consider rotating his squad despite only being a month into the new campaign.

Team News and Predicted Lineups

Tuchel will be pleased to know that Marco Reus will now surely be back to full fitness for Wednesday's game, having sat out the win over Leverkusen on Sunday. Erik Durm and Nuri Sahin still remain out of action for the foreseeable future, but aside from that, the Dortmund coach should have much of his first-team squad to play with.

Similarly, Gisdol will only have to contend with injuries to Jiloan Hamad, Kai Herdling and Tarik Elyounoussi and should be able to put forward a full-strength side when Dortmund come to town.

Key Players

Although the home side could turn to the likes of Kevin Volland and Eduardo Vargas to offer something up front for Hoffenheim on Wednesday night, they may actually be better turning to Eugen Polanski in midfield for inspiration.

The Polish defensive midfielder has not only remained as stubborn in defending as ever, but has also offered plenty going forward as well. A genuine talent in the heart of this side that Dortmund will have to keep an eye on.

For Tuchel's team there are a whole host of free-scoring midfielders who could put Hoffenheim to the sword, yet if he does indeed start then Reus will surely be the key threat going forward. If the manager opts to start someone else in stead, then it may be worth keeping an eye on the in-form duo of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Shinji Kagawa. Who have both looked exceptional so far this season.
