College Football Week 4 Odds: Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame Betting Favorites

OddsShark.comSep 20, 2015

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be looking to shake off an upset loss this weekend when they play host to the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks as huge betting favorites on the opening lines at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

The Crimson Tide fell by a score of 43-37 at home against Ole Miss in their Week 3 matchup, losing as nine-point favorites in that game and damaging their College Football Playoff chances in the process. Alabama is a 39-point betting favorite for this week.

Derrick Henry, a leading contender for the Heisman Trophy, rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on his 23 carries for the Crimson Tide in that losing cause, but Alabama quarterback Jake Coker completed just 21 of his 45 pass attempts for 201 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Backup Cooper Bateman completed 11 of his 14 pass attempts for 87 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

Alabama is now 2-8 against the spread in its last 10 games at home in September, according to the Odds Shark College Football Database.

The Crimson Tide, however, are 13-1 straight up in their last 14 games against teams from the Sun Belt Conference, while the Warhawks are 0-5 SU in their last five games against teams from the SEC and 1-7 SU in their last eight games on the road. Louisiana-Monroe, though, is 5-1-1 ATS overall in its last seven games.

The Ohio State Buckeyes avoided an upset loss in Week 3, but they didn't come close to covering a 34-point spread at home in a slim 20-13 victory over Northern Illinois. The Buckeyes also didn't cover the spread in their 38-0 home win over Hawaii in Week 2, and they'll get another big spread this week, as they're 27-point home favorites against Western Michigan on the opening odds.

Ohio State is 28-2 SU in its last 30 games at home in September, while Western Michigan is 0-14 SU in its last 14 games against the Big Ten. The Broncos, however, are 5-1 ATS in their last six games in the month of September.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish opened as 28.5-point home favorites for their game this week against Massachusetts after they knocked off Georgia Tech 30-22 over the weekend and covered as a one-point favorite. That marked the 11th under result for totals bettors in the Fighting Irish's last 12 games at home in the month of September.

Elsewhere, the USC Trojans opened as six-point road favorites for their Week 4 game at Arizona State despite their 41-31 upset loss to Stanford over the weekend, while Georgia Tech will be looking to bounce back from its loss to Notre Dame as a 10-point road favorite on the opening odds for Week 4 against Duke.

Auburn opened as a 3.5-point home favorite against Mississippi State, Michigan State opened as a 28.5-point home favorite against Central Michigan and LSU opened as a 24-point road favorite against Syracuse.
