Foster Likely Out for Season
Sunday, Sept. 20
It has yet to be announced if Foster's injury will require surgery, but the season-ending nature of the torn rotator cuff could cripple the Tide's firepower on the outside.
As CBS Sports' Robby Kalland noted, "...the Alabama receiving corps that does not have a lot of experience. The top two receivers for Alabama this season are tight end O.J. Howard and running back Kenyan Drake, but Foster is fourth on the team with 116 yards on 10 catches and is tied for the team lead with two receiving touchdowns."
Although Foster mustered just six catches for 44 yards during his freshman season, the sophomore was primed to break out as a primary weapon for Coker and fellow quarterback Cooper Bateman.
It helps that Alabama has running back Derrick Henry available to pace the offense, but the Tide are undeniably thinner at receiver following a 43-37 loss to Ole Miss.
With Foster out, tight end O.J Howard should continue to see a heavy workload, while ArDarius Stewart—who has a team-high 18 receptions—should be in line for more touches on the outside. Calvin Ridley, who's tallied 13 receptions so far this season, should watch his volume of touches tick up in the coming weeks.
