College Football Rankings 2015: Latest Polls, Predictions for Week 4 Standings

Steven CookSep 21, 2015

It started somewhat slow, but the 2015 college football season is in full swing after a Week 3 full of unpredictable upsets and statement wins that shook up the Top 25 standings.

The Ohio State Buckeyes remained atop every major poll despite a tight win over Northern Illinois, but that's not what has everybody talking. Instead, it's Ole Miss after its surprising 43-37 win at Alabama.

The Rebels' second straight win over the Crimson Tide bumped them into the Top Five of all three polls listed below, but they're not the only ones to make a big jump up the rankings. Take a look below at a full listing of the Associated Press, Amway Coaches and Bleacher Report Top 25 rankings before we break down the Week 4 slate.

No. 9 UCLA at No. 16 Arizona

The UCLA Bruins are now the cream of the crop in the Pac-12 after USC's surprising loss at home to Stanford. But they won't have to wait long to face their first serious in-conference test.

The Bruins travel to face No. 16 Arizona in one of just two matchups between Top 25 foes in Week 4, both of which hail from the Pac-12. UCLA is riding high off battling its way to a 24-23 win over BYU Saturday.

The premier matchup of the week is also being recognized by ESPN College GameDay's visit to Tuscon, as ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported:

UCLA isn't the only team in this contest that has started the season on a tear. Rich Rodriguez and the Wildcats can boast that as well, coming into this one 3-0 after putting up more than 40 points in each contest.

Rodriguez and Arizona have had success in similar situations in the past, as Javier Morales of AllSportsTucson.com noted:

None of those teams had quarterback Josh Rosen, however. The Bruins freshman has led his team to three big wins so far, overcoming his first serious struggles against a stingy BYU defense last weekend.

That growth experience for Rosen and UCLA should benefit the Bruins come Saturday, when they'll be ready to answer Arizona's charge and thwart the Wildcats' susceptible defense with a run-and-pass mix, leading to a tight win.

Prediction: UCLA 29, Arizona 27

No. 25 Missouri at Kentucky

Was Missouri's impeccable struggle to win Saturday at home against Connecticut a sign of things to come or the Tigers' typical farce before the SEC slate? We'll find out Saturday, as Missouri visits the upstart Kentucky Wildcats.

Kentucky will have its head down this week after losing for the 29th straight time to Florida, but it can breed some confidence from beating South Carolina the week before. Plus, UK had its chances to win the game late against the Gators.

Meanwhile, voters noticed Missouri's issues Saturday and nearly dropped the Tigers out of the Top 25 altogether, as Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch noted:

What's worrying for Kentucky is the Missouri defensive front could cause similar problems to what Florida did Saturday, wreaking havoc on quarterback Patrick Towles and nullifying the run game. But just like Florida, Missouri can't move the ball at all at the moment.

That should allow the Kentucky defense to tee off and make this a low-scoring struggle, which should go the way of the home team as Towles finds the openings to pull off the upset.

Prediction: Kentucky 14, Missouri 12
