Mr. Olympia's annual muscular showcase descended on Las Vegas on Saturday, and the status quo held steady as Phil Heath captured a fifth straight title.

Although Heath's primary rival, Kai Greene, was a no-show at Saturday's main event, the defending champion faced plenty of competition from Dexter Jackson, Shawn Rhoden and Dennis Wolf.

Mr. Olympia's official Instagram account passed along confirmation of Heath's victory:

NPC News Online offered an overview of the final standings after it was announced Heath would take home Mr. Olympia hardware for the fifth consecutive year:

According to Muscle Phone on Twitter, Heath walked away with a $400,000 grand prize, which represented a $125,000 increase from last year's title-worthy showing.

The remainder of the top monetary rewards were broken down place-by-place via Muscle Phone:

Professional wrestler Jessie Godderz tweeted out a congratulatory message to Heath, who has emerged as the class of bodybuilding over the past half-decade:

Put simply, Heath is showing no signs of slowing down.

"I figured out the other day that Ronnie Coleman won his first of eight Sandows at the age of 34," Heath said in an interview with FlexOnline.com. "I won four by 34, and I’m 35 now. So I think I’ve still got time."

However, fans were deprived of another high-profile meeting on the stage between Heath and Greene after it was revealed that the champion's primary competition wouldn't be participating in this year's spectacle.

While details regarding Greene's absence were once murky, Mr. Olympia promoter Robin Chang insisted one of the sport's most prominent figures wasn't banned from competing.

“Kai has had his Olympia contract since April but refused to sign it for reasons known only to Kai," Chang said in an interview with FlexOnline.com (h/t TigerFitness.com). "This is the same contract Kai has signed for the past 6 years. Nothing has changed but the dates. If he was banned from competing, why would we send him the contract? I’ve even heard he said he was banned from the expo! Are you kidding me?"

But with Greene's controversy now officially a thing of the past, Heath and the bodybuilding universe can start salivating over the possibility of a run at Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney's historic perch atop the sport's all-time pecking order.

Coleman is considered the greatest to ever flex after securing eight straight Mr. Olympia titles, and Haney accomplished the same more than a decade prior.

So now the pressure's on Heath to maintain his massive run of success and stave off up-and-comers in order to keep the figure eight in his crosshairs.

Should Greene return next year, though, expect the rivalry to be turned up a notch after a hiatus paved the way for Heath to keep his streak alive.
