Lyon announced Fekir underwent surgery on his knee, revealing the operation "went well," according to B/R UK's Jonathan Johnson.
Fekir can now focus on his rehabilitation as he bids to return before the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Sports correspondent Tom Williams confirmed on Sept. 4 the Lyon starlet is not expected back until February at the earliest.
The 22-year-old started the new campaign in explosive fashion, scoring four times in as many games for Lyon in Ligue 1, per WhoScored.com.
A serious knee injury will always set any athlete's development back, and Fekir was on the verge of having a breakout season, which could have earned him a sizable move to a European giant.
But now he will have to think about his rehabilitation as Lyon stare at a lengthy period without arguably their most influential player.
