Clubs coordinated their efforts in a bid to welcome asylum seekers to their grounds, which is part of a wider initiative across Germany.
As per Tom Edwards of the Daily Telegraph:
"All of the banners around the grounds over the weekend were coordinated efforts as part of the same mass welcome.
Germany has so far taken in more refugees than any other country in Europe, and Chancellor Angela Merkel has been vocal about the need to treat all people arriving in the country as humanely as possible.
"
Dortmund had already invited 220 refugees to their Europa League win over Odds Ballklubb on Thursday, with the football club backing the message of Merkel during a time of great change.
