Northwestern's Grid Iron Grilled Cheese, Top Concession Menu Items at New Ryan Field Shown in Video
Northwestern's new stadium features plenty of dining options for hungry fans.ย
A video by Front Office Sports' Stadium Eats showed some of the best options on the menu for fans who attend games at Northwestern's New Ryan Field.
Among the featured options are an eight-inch-long mozzarella stick from Dimmi Baby and the "Grid Iron" grilled cheese from Goatdown, which includes three cheeses with caramelized onions and kimchi in sourdough bread. Goatdown also offers a cheesesteak with shaved ribeye, cheese, caramelized onions, mustard and giardiniera in an Italian baguette.
Dining options can be found in the Northwest Plaza at The Village, a culinary district which features a collection of the city's finest establishments.
There are even more options in the Southwest Plaza near the tailgating area. The offerings can vary each game, ranging from burgers to corn roasters. The stadium even offered an Oktoberfest theme with grilled brats during Northwestern's 45-15 victory over Ball State in early October.ย
Inside the stadium, neighborhood restaurants from Evanston or Wilmette run pop-up stands throughout the concourses. Every concession area is positioned so fans in line can still see the action on the field. Food can also be ordered through the stadium app.
Northwestern finally opened the 35,000-seat stadium after years of build up. The $875 million stadium was privately funded by the Ryan family, who are Northwestern donors. The student section holds 2,000 placeholders with aluminum bleachers instead of seats.
The Wildcats have gotten off to a hot start in New Ryan Field and currently hold a 6-2 record. They will host the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday.ย
