No. 1 Miami is already riding high into Saturday's showdown against No. 11 Notre Dame, and the team just landed a commitment from one of the top high school prospects in the nation.
On Thursday, 5-star wide receiver Brysen Wright announced his commitment to the Hurricanes over fellow finalists Florida and Texas. Wright is ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 3 overall player in the class of 2028 in 247Sports' composite. Hayes Fawcett of On3.com reported that he will reclassify to the 2027 class.
A 6'3.5", 215-pound prospect out of Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Wright has all the makings of a future star. Per MaxPreps, the youngster racked up 121 catches for 2,592 yards and 29 touchdowns across 33 career games.
247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins described Wright as a "big aerial specialist" who "projects as a high-volume target on Saturdays that can be positioned around formations while hunting matchups."
Wright has already built a name for himself well before his senior high school season, amassing a string of viral moments.
Wright is now one of the headliners of a Miami 2027 recruiting class that also includes five other 5-star prospects: cornerback Donte Wright, quarterback Israel Adams, edge rusher Jaiden Bryant and wide receivers Nick Lennear and A'mir Sears.
Landing Wright is a major win for Hurricanes head coach Mari Cristobal, and he will try to keep the positive vibes going in Saturday's matchup against the Fighting Irish.
