Full 2026 Ballon d'Or Voting Results Revealed After Harry Kane's Historic Win Over Mbappe, Yamal
Bayern Munich star Harry Kane won the 2027 Ballon d'Or by a historically narrow margin over Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé.
Kane finished with a 28-point lead over Mbappé, according to to voting results released Friday.
That marked the fourth-most narrow margin of victory in Ballon d'Or history, according to L'Equipe.
Voters for the men's award represent the top 100 nations according to FIFA rankings. Each voter selects 10 players awarded 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point in descending order.
Out of those 100 voters, 40 submitted ballots with Kane in first place, according to L'Équipe. Mbappé was named in the first-place slot on 23 ballots.
Kane was left out of the top ten on two ballots, while Mbappé was not named on three ballots.
Yamal finished 155 points ahead of his countryman Rodri, while the top five was rounded out by Inter Miami's Lionel Messi. Yamal received 13 first-place votes, while Rodri earned 10 first-place votes, per L'Équipe.
France Football editor-in-chief Vincent Garcia said he felt Rodri "deprived Lamine of some votes" due to voters splitting credit for Spain's 2026 FIFA World Cup win. Diario AS' José Félix Díaz, the journalist representing Spain, voted for Mbappé as the winner over Lamine and Kane.
The Women's Ballon d'Or saw a more definitive victory for London City's Alexia Putellas, who finished 86 points ahead of former Barcelona teammate Ewa Pajor in a 50-person vote.
