Despite being without Tyrese Haliburton, the Indiana Pacers gave LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey a run for their money on Wednesday.

The Pacers ultimately came up short against the Philadelphia 76ers, though, losing 114-109 at home after a huge fourth-quarter run led by Maxey.

The Pacers came out of halftime scorching hot, starting the third quarter on a 17-0 run that helped them take the lead. Indiana outscored Philadelphia 36-13 in the third quarter, giving them a 13-point lead heading into the final period.

But after the Pacers' run in the third, the Sixers answered with one of their own in the fourth. Philadelphia went on a 15-2 run to regain the lead halfway through the fourth.

The 76ers' run set up a down-to-the-wire finish.

With Indiana trailing by just two points with a little over a minute to play, Maxey drilled a three-pointer to give Philadelphia some breathing room. Andrew Nembhard drew a foul and hit both free throws to bring the Pacers back within one possession.

But Maxey came through with another clutch basket, making a three off an assist from James to make a 112-106 game.

After Obi Toppin made a free throw to cut the lead to five points, Indiana forced a turnover as the Sixers tried to get the ball up the court with 30 seconds to play. The Pacers couldn't capitalize on the turnover, though, and Philadelphia managed to ice the game at the free-throw line.

The Sixers improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Pacers, who will look to stay afloat without Haliburton for the next few weeks, dropped to 2-3.
