Lane Kiffin Calls Out SEC Over LSU vs. Alabama Kickoff Time on Week 11 CFB Schedule
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin wasn't pleased with the relatively early kickoff time of the Tigers' Week 11 matchup with SEC rival Alabama.
"I mean, I was shocked. I didn't even think to even think about the time." Kiffin said Wednesday (h/t Justin Boico of Touchdown Alabama). "I just assumed, especially in 16 years, this game has been at night here all the time, in the last 16 years. I never even thought or considered that it wouldn't be at night, so I guess that's probably naive of me. I was joking earlier when people were saying, well, obviously, the SEC wanted to change this year from how it's been to give LSU less advantage of, obviously, with how well LSU plays at night, how intimidating it is to play here. I was like, well, someone thinks the SEC wants us to win this year after what's been going on, they must have just been on Mars the last four months. I guess when I look at it that way, I'm not surprised."
LSU will host Alabama at Tiger Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The Crimson Tide hold a 58-27-5 record in their 90 games against LSU, which includes a 13-2 mark in their past 15 meetings.
14 of those 15 contests have been played at night (h/t NOLA.com's Jon Blau).
This season, LSU and Alabama hold identical 6-2 records. Both teams boast high-powered offenses, as the Tigers rank No. 2 in the SEC by averaging 40.1 points per game.
The Crimson Tide aren't far behind, holding the No. 4 scoring offense in the conference by recording 38.3 points on a weekly basis.
