Warriors' Yaxel Lendeborg Hyped by Steph Curry After Dominant Game vs. Nuggets, 'The Full Package'
After making headlines during his first week in the NBA for his trash talk, Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg let his play speak for him with 31 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in Monday's 134-114 win over the Denver Nuggets.
The performance earned Lendeborg high praise from Stephen Curry, who called the first-year forward "the full package" as a player.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also showered Lendeborg with accolades, calling his ability "extremely rare" for a rookie and someone will be part of the closing lineup for the team.
Lendeborg has proven he's not afraid of any spotlight after going at it with Luka Dončić during and after the Warriors' season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 21.
Even though that became the main focus of Lendeborg's first week in the NBA, he has followed it up with strong performances on the court. The 24-year-old has put up at least 26 points in back-to-back games and has two double-doubles in four games.
Per NBA.com, Landeborg is the first rookie since Larry Bird in the 1979-80 season to record at least 70 points, 30 rebounds and 15 assists in his first four career games.
The Warriors need someone else to step up around Curry if they are going to have any chance of hanging around in the Western Conference playoff race while waiting for Jimmy Butler to return. Landeborg, the No. 11 pick in the 2026 NBA draft, looks like he can give them exactly what they need.
Landeborg helped lift the Warriors to their first victory of the season after an 0-3 start. He will look to keep his positive momentum going on Wednesday when Golden State takes on the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.
