Deion Sanders, Colorado vs. OK State Final Box Score, Top Player Stats and Highlights

Taylyn Hadley Oct 24, 2026

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes fell 57-24 to the Oklahoma State Cowboys after an explosive second half led by Drew Mestemaker and the Cowboys' offense.

The Buffaloes entered their road matchup as staggering 13.5-point underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

After leading 24-23 at halftime, Colorado appeared poised for an upset. However, offensive turnovers and a defensive collapse allowed Oklahoma State to outscore the Buffaloes 34-0 in the second half and secure the win.

Colorado remains winless in Big 12 play at 0-4, dropping to 2-5 overall. Oklahoma State improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, adding to a season that includes a marquee win over the No. 6 Oregon Ducks and a narrow 35-32 loss to the No. 20 Houston Cougars last week.

After finishing 3-9 last season, the Buffaloes appear to be on a similar trajectory this year. Colorado's last winning season came in 2024, when the Buffaloes finished 9-4 behind an offense led by Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.

The 2-4 Buffaloes gave 4-2 Oklahoma State a run for its money through the opening two quarters, entering halftime with a one-point lead, 24-23.

Despite Mestemaker and the Cowboys' opening the game with a score in under a minute, Buffalo responded by scoring on each of its first two possessions in the first quarter.

Wilson found running back JaQuail Smith for a short touchdown pass and DeAndre Moore Jr. on a 15-yard shotgun pass to give the Buffaloes a 14-7 lead after the first quarter.

Oklahoma State scored on every possession in the second quarter, notching three field goals and a 14-yard touchdown pass from Mestemaker to Justin Bowick.

However, the Cowboys' defense struggled to contain Wilson, who added a rushing touchdown and helped put the Buffaloes in field goal range to take a one-point lead into halftime.

Oklahoma State erupted out of halftime, outscoring Colorado 14-0 to take a 37-24 lead behind a touchdown pass from Mestemaker and a rushing score from William Mason. The Cowboys' defense also stepped up, intercepting Wilson at Oklahoma State's 30-yard line and forcing a fumble from the Colorado quarterback that was returned to Colorado's own 13-yard line.

Colorado's struggles continued in the fourth quarter, as the Buffaloes surrendered two field goals, another touchdown pass from Mestemaker and a rushing score. Wilson added to his costly evening with his third turnover of the game, throwing another interception as Oklahoma State pulled away for the win.

Colorado will host the Kentucky State Wildcats next Saturday at 2 p.m. ET, while Oklahoma State will hit the road to face the Iowa State Cyclones at 7 p.m. ET that same day.
