The NBA's all-time leading scorer also reflected on his 76ers debut after joining the team as a free agent this summer.
"I could be a lot better," James told Stephenson (0:06 mark). "Still getting my rhythm, obviously just a little bit over two weeks with the new squad. But, I like the way we played. I think we played exceptionally well, especially defensively. Didn't shoot the ball well but we have capable shooters, we know that. Good win for us to start the season."
"It's about winning," he added. "Just trying to make plays to win. Very familiar with every scenario that this game has offered. Blessed to be able to play still at this level and blessed to be able to play in this building. This building is so special, so it's fun."
James finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and a team-high seven assists compared to just one turnover at Madison Square Garden. He shot 5-of-13 from the field, but missed all three of his attempts from behind the arc.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer also made plays defensively to open his 24th season, picking up one block and one steal as Philadelphia moved to 1-0.
