Duke's Kimari Robinson Apologizes for Swatting CFB Training Staff Member's Arm in Viral Video

Timothy RappOct 19, 2026

Duke cornerback Kimari Robinson apologized on social media Sunday after video of him swatting away the arm of a female trainer went viral following the team's 24-20 loss against North Carolina.

Robinson was standing near teammate DaShawn Stone, who was on the ground injured, when the trainer came over to him and tried to move him away from the injured safety. Robinson responded by aggressively hitting her arm away.

Head coach Manny Diaz also addressed the situation on Monday:

Stone ultimately was able to walk off the field under his own power after suffering the injury in the third quarter. He and Robinson have been paired together in the Duke secondary since 2023.

"I've mentioned many times before why I feel privileged to be the head coach at Duke University, and anything that has this emblem or the four letters attached to it that the standard is excellence," Diaz told reporters Monday. "The recent behavior of one of our players, Robinson, has fallen well below that standard. Kimari has apologized privately. He's apologized publicly, and that is now a matter that will be handled internally. That's all we're going to say about that for now."

Duke fell to 4-2 on the season following Saturday's loss, its second straight ACC defeat. The team will face Virginia on Friday night.
