CFB Player Tyler Ulrich Dies at 21 After Suffering 'Traumatic' In-Game Injury

Tyler Ulrich, a safety at Southern Nazarene University, died on Thursday at the age of 21.

According to the Associated Press, SNU said Ulrich suffered a "traumatic injury" during a game against Ouachita Baptist on Oct. 10. The school did not reveal the cause of death or specific details of the injury.

SNU issued a statement on social media announcing Ulrich's death.

According to the AP, the game was delayed for nearly an hour while Ulrich received medical attention before being transported to a hospital.

A native of Azle, Texas, Ulrich was in his sophomore season with the Crimson Storm football team. He appeared in a total of 20 games with the program.

Southern Nazarene's game against Southwestern Oklahoma State scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.
