Alabama Fans Throw Objects at Georgia Players on Video After Loss
Some Alabama fans showed their displeasure toward Georgia following the Crimson Tide's 20-17 loss on Saturday night.
ESPN shared a video of the Bulldogs walking toward the tunnel and being hit with debris. Bottles and cans littered the end zone at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Georgia survived, with Peyton Woodring's 23-yard field goal providing the difference in the outcome.
The team was perhaps fortunate to at least avoid overtime. The referees appeared to miss a pass interference penalty on the Bulldogs late in the fourth quarter. An automatic first down would've set Alabama up within field-goal range and with plenty of time to get a go-ahead touchdown.
That might've been on the minds of some inside the stadium as they deposited their concessions on the field.
The SEC has cracked down on schools for similar infractions in the past. Ole Miss was fined $75,000 in 2023 when its fans threw objects onto the field after a win over LSU. The same thing happened at Texas the following season, and the fine had climbed to $250,000.
Based on past precedent, Alabama can expect to write a six-figure check to the conference.
