No. 13 Oregon couldn't overcome the absence of starting quarterback Dante Moore against No. 21 UCLA on Saturday, falling by the final score of 17-15 at Autzen Stadium.

Dylan Raiola served as the Ducks' starter under center while Moore dealt with a concussion, although Raiola was benched in favor of Brock Thomas in the fourth quarter.

Thomas nearly led Oregon to a comeback victory, but head coach Dan Lanning's team ultimately came up short.

UCLA took a 3-0 lead with a field goal on its opening drive, but Oregon gained some momentum after a fumble by Bruins quarterback Nico Iamaleava on the team's one-yard line.

The Ducks quickly took a 6-3 edge with a short rushing touchdown by Jordon Davison.

Both teams struggled offensively throughout the remainder of the first quarter before UCLA jumped back in front with a 35-yard rushing touchdown by Wayne Knight in the second.

While the Bruins maintained a 10-6 advantage at halftime, Iamaleava was replaced by Ty Dieffenbach to start the second half after suffering an injury.

UCLA's defense was still able to shut down Oregon, however.

The Ducks' three possessions in the third quarter ended with a punt, fumble and interception before Raiola was finally benched after the Bruins took a 17-6 lead in the fourth.

Thomas entered the game and immediately provided a spark to Oregon's offense, as the team went on a 60-yard drive that ended with a field goal.

As the Ducks trailed 17-9, they were able to force a UCLA punt before Thomas connected with Evan Stewart for a 44-yard score.

A game-tying two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful and allowed the Bruins to keep a 17-15 lead, though.

While the Ducks forced another UCLA punt, they couldn't get into range for a game-winning field goal attempt with 44 seconds left and no timeouts remaining.

Oregon experienced issues with ball security in the defeat, committing seven turnovers. The Ducks also converted a mere one of their 11 opportunities on third down.
