Texas A&M's Mike Elko Rips Local Media Outlet, Addresses Frustrated Fans After Loss to Missouri
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko called out local media outlet TexAgs while discussing fan frustration following the team's 27-6 loss to No. 14 Missouri on Saturday.
"There's a difference to me between the fan base and social media," Elko said. "So there's one group that I really don't care much about. Billy's cesspool (at TexAgs) can go be Billy's cesspool. Our fan base, stay with us, be behind us. We're going to build something that we told you we were going to build. So we're in a really bad spot right now, but we'll work our way out of it."
The Aggies suffered their third loss in four games on Saturday. All three defeats featured a double-digit scoring margin. They now sit at 3-3 on the season.
It's understandable that there may be some doubt surrounding Elko's squad.
After the Aggies compiled an 8-5 record during his first season patrolling the sidelines in 2024, they finished at 11-2 and made a College Football Playoff appearance during their 2025 campaign.
Texas A&M was expected to remain among the top teams in the SEC in 2026, as the school was ranked No. 8 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll.
The Aggies struggled in several areas against Missouri on Saturday, allowing the Tigers to total 252 rush yards as a team on 44 attempts.
Texas A&M's offense was only able to muster 216 total yards, converting a mere five of 18 opportunities on third down. Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed finished 19-of-39 for 187 yards while getting picked off twice.
Reed has dealt with inconsistency throughout the beginning of the season. He's now completed 55.3 percent of his throws for 1,095 yards and six touchdowns compared to six interceptions through six starts.
Elko and the Aggies will look to get back on track in their next game, a matchup with The Citadel on Oct. 17.
