Alabama vs. Georgia Weather Update, Latest Forecast and Game Status amid Hurricane Isaias
Saturday night's massive SEC clash between the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, may avoid the wrath of Hurricane Isaias.
According to The Weather Channel, Saturday's forecast for Tuscaloosa looks surprisingly tame at and around the time the game is scheduled to be played at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Although heavy rain and possible "tropical storm conditions" are expected throughout the morning, the chance of rain drops to 24 percent at around 10 a.m. and stays there until around 9 p.m. when it increases to a 36 percent chance of light rain.
Winds fewer than 10 mph are expected throughout the game as well, so that shouldn't be much of a factor either.
To this point, all signs suggest the game will be played as scheduled with no announced plans to change the time or location.
On Wednesday, Alabama Athletics released a statement on X, noting that the school was monitoring the weather and still planned to hold the game as scheduled:
As of Friday, The Weather Channel reported that Hurricane Isaias was a Category 3 hurricane located 240 miles south of Pensacola, Florida.
The expectation is that Hurricane Isaias will make landfall late Friday night from "Alabama to the western Florida Panhandle."
Hurricane Isaias is expected to "move farther inland and weaken" by Saturday, and radar appears to show it moving to the northern part of Alabama, just clear of Tuscaloosa.
Given the enormity of Saturday's game, the forecast comes as a major relief, as it doesn't appear rain and wind will have a significant impact.
Georgia and Alabama are tied atop the SEC right now with matching 3-0 conference records and 5-0 overall records, meaning the winner will have a huge advantage over the loser in terms of positioning for a potential SEC Championship Game berth.
