Urban Meyer Rips 'Train Wreck' Michigan After Losses to Iowa, Minnesota amid Underwood's Struggle
Fox Sports college football analyst and three-time national champion head coach Urban Meyer called Michigan football's offense a "train wreck" after back-to-back losses to Iowa (20-19) and Minnesota (20-17).
Meyer made his remarks on the latest edition of The Triple Option (21:28 mark).

"It's an enigma right now…You can blame Bryce Underwood all you want. I don't see any explosiveness on offense. I see a quarterback getting hammered…And I don't see a fast solution at all. It's a train wreck right now. I stood right there and watched it."
Michigan's offense has not fared well in new head coach (and former Utah HC) Kyle Whittingham's first season. Outside of a 52-17 win over 1-4 UTEP, the Wolverines have averaged just 15.75 points in four games. That figure is 105th in Division I-FBS.
Quarterback Bryce Underwood has thrown for just five touchdowns and 176.2 passing yards per game in five starts. The running game is averaging only 3.9 yards per carry.
The Wolverines also blew fourth-quarter leads each of the past two weeks.
Iowa trailed 19-14 before a game-ending 20-yard touchdown pass with no time left.
Against Minnesota, Michigan led 14-7 at half and 14-13 early in the fourth quarter before an Underwood interception set up the Golden Gophers' game-winning three-play, 35-yard touchdown drive.
Of course, the year began with a controversial win over heavy underdog Western Michigan, in which the heavily favored Wolverines won 12-7. Underwood initially threw an incomplete Hail Mary attempt that led to time running out. However, one second was put back after review, and Underwood hit JJ Buchanan for a touchdown on the second Hail Mary for the win.
The Wolverines have tough matchups up ahead. Four of their remaining seven opponents are in the Top 25: No. 7 Indiana, No. 13 Oregon, No. 21 UCLA and No. 5 Ohio State.
The Wolverines will be tested further, but they have an upcoming bye week to recalibrate. Their next game is Saturday, Oct. 17, when they'll host another struggling program, Penn State, with a first-year head coach (Matt Campbell) on a two-game losing streak.
