CFB Playoff Picture, Standings and Bracket Predictions After Week 5 of 2026-27 Season
The Florida Gators became the latest College Football Playoff contender to learn how difficult life can be on the road in the SEC.
Florida was outclassed across the board by the Missouri Tigers in the most significant result of Week 5.
The eighth-ranked Gators, who pulled off a top-10 upset of their own at home last week, were the only top-10 team to lose in the afternoon windows on Saturday.
The Ohio State Buckeyes and Alabama Crimson Tide were among the top-10 teams who were far more fortunate on their travels on Saturday.
Ohio State began its five-week Big Ten gauntlet with a commanding win over the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The bracket projection is based on the latest rankings and Week 5 results.
No. 8 Florida Falls On the Road At Missouri

Florida didn't have much time to celebrate its first big win under Jon Sumrall.
The Gators suffered a 45-17 defeat at the hands of Missouri one week after they defeated the Ole Miss Rebels in Gainesville.
Florida experienced a 13-position swing upward in the AP Top 25 after its Week 4 win. A similar swing in the other direction is expected on Sunday.
Saturday's loss is massive in the context of Florida's case to make the CFB Playoff.
Florida still has to play the top-ranked Texas Longhorns and the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in consecutive games at the end of the month.
The margin for error is incredibly small with the Gators and there's now a chance they end up outside the Top 25 by the end of the month.
No. 5 Ohio State Begins Big Ten Gauntlet With Road Win Over Iowa
2 of 2
Jeremiah Smith and the Ohio State Buckeyes had zero issues in Iowa City on Saturday.
The Buckeyes produced a 31-14 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes, who came into Saturday inside the top 15.
The trip to Iowa marked the start of four Top 20 opponents over a five-game span for Ohio State.
Smith strengthened his Heisman Trophy case with 206 receiving yards and a pair of touchdown catches.
Ohio State will need Smith to perform at a high level in the coming weeks to get past the Indiana Hoosiers, Oregon Ducks and USC Trojans.
The expectation is for Ohio State to go at least 2-1 in that stretch to maintain a good position in the CFB Playoff race.
If they perform at Saturday's level, Ohio State might go undefeated through its tough schedule and reside in a great position to even contend for a first-round bye come mid-November.
