Kamario Taylor Injured, Latest News on Mississippi State QB's Status for LSU Game

Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby revealed that quarterback Kamario Taylor is considered day-to-day ahead of an Oct. 17 matchup with LSU, according to ESPN's Alex Scarborough.

"We'll let the injury report that Wednesday of LSU speak to where we're at," Lebby said Saturday, per Scarborough.

Taylor previously suffered a leg injury against Missouri on Sept. 26 before exiting in the fourth quarter of the Bulldogs' 56-23 loss to Alabama on Saturday.

He eventually returned to Mississippi State's sideline in a walking boot.

Taylor finished 19-of-34 for 258 yards and three touchdowns to go along with a pair of interceptions against the Crimson Tide. He also lost a fumble.

Still, Lebby praised the signal-caller's effort throughout the contest.

"I could not be more proud of him for his toughness, his mentality, what he's gone through this week to give him a chance to go play," Lebby said after the game, per Scarborough.

"... I mean, I think it's pretty obvious he just wasn't able to do anything with his legs. And so him not being able to do some of those things, it changes it. And obviously it makes it harder, but that's part of it. Again, his mentality, his toughness, his leadership -- elite, special. And again, there's so much to be able to learn from inside these moments right now."

Taylor has opened his 2026 campaign on a high note, as he led the Bulldogs to wins in each of their first four games.

He completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 1,192 yards and 14 touchdowns over that span, getting picked off just two times. Taylor also rushed for 185 yards and one score.

If Taylor isn't able to return in time to face LSU, Mississippi State will turn to freshman passer Parker Puckett.

Puckett replaced Taylor against Alabama on Saturday and went 3-of-6 for 26 yards.
